PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Jacobs (ranked 4267 p4p, 2887 weight class) and Alessandro Padrilo (ranked 457 p4p, 351 weight class). Jacobs comes into the arena with Pressure-Rushy blaring out of the sound system. Alessandro Padrilo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Jacobs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alessandro Padrilo! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnem�ki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacobs looks to land a left hand but Padrilo moved out of range nicely. Jacobs throws a leg kick but Padrilo sees it coming and moves out of range. Padrilo throws out a counter right but Jacobs avoids it with no problem. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Padrilo lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jacobs has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jacobs and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Jacobs with a nice cross. Padrilo shoots for a double leg takedown but Jacobs sprawls well. He's pushed Padrilo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Padrilo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jacobs sprawls well. Jacobs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Padrilo gets slowly back to his feet. Padrilo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jordan Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alessandro Padrilo.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Padrilo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jacobs.

Jacobs decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Donk. Jacobs catches Padrilo right on the button with a cross. A low kick from Jacobs misses
so Padrilo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Padrilo throwing strikes but missing. Padrilo trying to control the position from guard on top but Jacobs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Padrilo stops Jacobs from standing up. Padrilo wants to control from the top but Jacobs keeps moving. Jacobs wants to stand and escape but Padrilo is having none of it.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Jacobs thumps Padrilo with a low kick.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacobs keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Padrilo takes a body punch but keeps moving. Jacobs scores with a crisp jab that stopped Padrilo in his tracks. Jacobs jabbing away but nothing is landing. Padrilo wants to counter with a clinch but Jacobs pushes him away. Padrilo tries to close the distance and clinch but Jacobs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Jacobs was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. A jab from Padrilo misses. Jacobs is looking to counter punch. Padrilo keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Padrilo throws a wild body kick that Jacobs sees coming a mile off. Padrilo tries to clinch there but Jacobs circles away.

Jacobs rushes Padrilo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Padrilo is trying to pull guard but Jacobs has him pressed against the cage.

Padrilo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Padrilo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jacobs. Padrilo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Jacobs tries to clinch up. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jacobs scores with a jab to the body.

Jacobs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jacobs looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Nice sprawl there from Jacobs as Padrilo shoots in. Jacobs looks to land a left hand but Padrilo moved out of range nicely. Padrilo tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. A lazy left from Jacobs finds it's target. Jacobs throws out a powerful jab. Padrilo moves out of range of the body kick. Jacobs bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Padrilo's head. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jordan Jacobs dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Jacobs lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Padrilo tries to clinch but Jacobs is having none of it. Jacobs moves in looking to clinch but Padrilo pushes him off. Padrilo is looking to clinch. Padrilo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jacobs sprawls well. Jacobs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Padrilo gets slowly back to his feet. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Padrilo is looking to clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Padrilo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Padrilo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jacobs sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Jacobs fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Padrilo on the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A jab from Jacobs does it's job there. Jacobs misses the shot to the body. And Padrilo tries to counter it with a takedown but Jacobs pushes his down on his head and steps out. Jacobs missing with a left hand there. Padrilo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. The crowd cheers as Jacobs lands an impressive looking overhand right. Padrilo doesn't seem phased though. Padrilo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jacobs pinned against the cage. Jacobs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jordan Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alessandro Padrilo.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Jacobs connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Padrilo's hands. Good exchange - Jacobs coming out on top. Padrilo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Padrilo gets tackled into the cage by Jacobs. Jacobs maintains the clinch. Padrilo tries to pull guard but Jacobs forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Padrilo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jacobs's efforts to push away. Padrilo throws a head punch that misses.

A looping hook to the body misses from Jacobs. Padrilo does a little dance to reset his feet. Jacobs clobbers Padrilo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Jacobs just misses with a punch to the body.
Padrilo is looking to clinch. Jordan Jacobs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Padrilo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jacobs circles away. Jacobs is looking to counter punch. Jacobs tests Padrilo's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Padrilo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jacobs sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Padrilo somewhat. Jacobs connects with a nice looking jab.

Jacobs pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jacobs uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Padrilo. Jacobs was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Padrilo drives through with a takedown into guard. Jacobs is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Padrilo dives into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jacobs defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Padrilo.
Padrilo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jacobs can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Padrilo content just to control the position here. Padrilo won't let Jacobs get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Padrilo with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jacobs is trying to stand up.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Padrilo looking to control but Jacobs is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jacobs is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Padrilo thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Jacobs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Padrilo on the ground. Jacobs really wants to buck Padrilo off and get back to his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Padrilo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that's the end of the fight! Alessandro Padrilo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Jacobs has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
