Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Hammer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Everett Covington!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer lands a really nice looking cross but Covington seems unphased.
Hammer takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hammer misses with a right hand

and Covington counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Covington.
Hammer keeping moving, preventing Covington from controlling successfully.
Covington stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hammer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Covington lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Covington got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hammer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Covington has managed to get both his arms back between Hammer's legs - danger averted.

Covington wants to control from the top but Hammer keeps moving.

Hammer seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Covington tries to free his leg and advance position but Hammer is retaining full guard.

Hammer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Covington defends it easily.
Covington wants to control from the top but Hammer keeps moving.
Covington stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hammer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hammer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hammer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Covington is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Covington trying to control the position from guard on top but Hammer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hammer has his foot on Covington's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Covington works his way back into a safe position though.

Covington makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Hammer throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Covington escapes and throws Hammer's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hammer is not content to let Covington control the position.

Hammer is trying to control Covington's posture but Covington avoids it.

Covington lands a few punches from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hammer wants to control but Covington is keeping busy.
Covington working over Hammer with some ground and pound. Hammer looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Covington tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hammer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Hammer gets back to full guard.
Covington postures up and lands a big shot to Hammer's brow.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Covington's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Hammer is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Covington rolls with it to try and escape but Hammer cranks on the arm and Covington is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
