Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tre Jokinen (ranked 1148 p4p, 912 weight class) and Clint Westshade (ranked 104 p4p, 86 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tre Jokinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clint Westshade! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A nice leg kick from Westshade, right into the meat of the thigh.
Westshade walks into a straight right hand from Jokinen. Westshade tries to land a leg kick but Jokinen saw it coming and moves away.
Jokinen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Westshade throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Westshade wants to land a leg kick but Jokinen is out of range. A big right from Westshade misses. Jokinen half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Westshade uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jokinen.

Jokinen landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Jokinen throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Westshade works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Jokinen working to pass to mount. Jokinen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Westshade sees it coming and defends easily.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Westshade keeps control of the position for the meantime. Jokinen working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Westshade's thigh. Westshade counters though and makes it back to full guard. Jokinen trying to control the position from guard on top but Westshade is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jokinen won't allow Westshade to sweep him here. Jokinen trying to control but Westshade is working from the bottom.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Jokinen chips away with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Westshade wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Jokinen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Jokinen throwing strikes from guard but Westshade blocks nicely. Westshade has his hands on Jokinen's head, controlling the position.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jokinen slips a jab from Westshade. Jokinen misses with a wild body shot.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Westshade swings away with a leg kick that misses. Jokinen misses with a wild body shot. A nice side step and Westshade releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Jokinen lunges at Westshade with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Westshade's hand. Jokinen misses the shot to the body. Jokinen shoots in for a takedown but Westshade shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Westshade slips under a jab from Jokinen. Westshade lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Jokinen ducks under a wild hook from Westshade. A big right from Westshade misses. Jokinen avoids the body shot from Westshade.

 That's five minutes gone in the round. Jokinen fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Westshade ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jokinen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Westshade to counter with a crisp jab.
Jokinen looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Jokinen looking to sit in guard and control but Westshade gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Westshade lands a couple of decent looking shots. Westshade working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jokinen's head. Jokinen seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Westshade advances position into side control! You can see the frustration on Jokinen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Jokinen is looking for a sweep. Jokinen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Westshade's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Westshade looks to land a strike but Jokinen avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Westshade working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jokinen's head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jokinen wants to sweep but no luck. Westshade must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.  That's seven minutes gone in the round. Westshade is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Westshade working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Westshade takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Westshade is just content to waste time from the top position. Jokinen takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Jokinen trying to control the position.
Westshade works over Jokinen with some ground and pound from guard. Westshade lands a couple of decent looking shots. Westshade cracks Jokinen with a solid left hand.
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jokinen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Westshade defends well. Westshade is in close to Jokinen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jokinen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Westshade doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Westshade manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Jokinen pulls Westshade in close to prevent any damage. Westshade wants to pass the guard but Jokinen is keeping the position. Jokinen keeping moving, preventing Westshade from controlling successfully. Westshade not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jokinen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Westshade trying to control but Jokinen is working from the bottom. Westshade advances to half guard. Nice strikes from Westshade there. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Westshade is keen to just control but Jokinen is a slippery customer. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Westshade connects with a nice short shot to Jokinen's temple. Jokinen wants to improve his position but Westshade is controlling well.

That was a close round but I would say that Tre Jokinen will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Westshade is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Jokinen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. A telegraphed right hand from Westshade misses the target. Jokinen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Westshade.

The crowd cheers as Jokinen lands an impressive looking overhand right. Westshade doesn't seem phased though. Jokinen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Westshade moves away. A countering left hand to the body from Westshade misses. Good leg kick by Westshade. Westshade misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jokinen.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tre Jokinen will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Westshade avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Jokinen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Westshade. Westshade dodges the punch combination from Jokinen.
