Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zuhair Anwer (ranked 3869 p4p, 25458 weight class) and Michael Brandt (ranked 0 p4p, 582 weight class). Anwer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mundian To Bach Ke. Brandt is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Broken Out In Love by Mark Crozer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Zuhair Anwer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Brandt! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anwer tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Brandt is able to avoid easily. Anwer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Brandt circles away. Brandt tries to close the distance and clinch but Anwer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Anwer lands a nice looking body shot.
Anwer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brandt, pushing him back against the cage. Anwer pulls Brandt into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brandt stopping the sweep attempt from Anwer. Brandt trying to control but Anwer is working from the bottom. Brandt being controlled here momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anwer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anwer will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Anwer wants to sweep here but Brandt controlling him for the moment. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Brandt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Anwer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Brandt wants to counter the offense by Anwer and move into the clinch position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Decent striking displayed by Anwer there. Brandt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Brandt looks winded! Brandt checks a leg kick nicely. Anwer takes the fight into the clinch. Anwer is working for takedown but Brandt is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zuhair Anwer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brandt jumps guard but Anwer turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Brandt is trying to pull guard but Anwer has him pressed against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Anwer. Anwer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Brandt uses from the top position. Anwer keeping moving, preventing Brandt from controlling successfully. Brandt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Anwer pulls Brandt in close to his closed guard and prevents Brandt from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anwer has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Brandt has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Brandt fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Anwer drops down looking for an ankle pick but Brandt pulls his leg out and moves away.
Anwer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brandt is fending him off so far but Anwer persists. Nope, Brandt circles away and we're back to standing. Brandt tries to clinch but Anwer is having none of it. Anwer lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Michael Brandt has been cut. Anwer drives through with a takedown into Brandt's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Anwer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've been informed that Brandt has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Anwer stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Anwer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brandt defends it nicely. Anwer shoots in but no luck this time. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Anwer throws a series of strikes that have Brandt backpedaling.
Anwer gets a clinch. Brandt avoiding damage as Anwer throws knees to the body.
Anwer wants to break free but Brandt has control.
Brandt stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Brandt tries to pull guard but Anwer forces him back to his feet, against the cage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Brandt stuffs the takedown attempt from Anwer. Anwer gets slowly back to his feet. Brandt is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Brandt throws a right and a left that both miss. Brandt just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromAnwer. Anwer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brandt sprawls well. Brandt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Anwer gets slowly back to his feet. Anwer drives through and clinches with Brandt against the cage.

Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Anwer throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Anwer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Anwer stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Anwer throwing shots but Brandt is blocking nicely. Anwer prevents Brandt from improving his position.

Anwer is working for a submission of some sort.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Anwer in particular looking to stall.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Anwer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Brandt to the ground. Anwer is now in Brandt's guard. Brandt wants to get back to his feet but Anwer passes into half guard.

Anwer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Brandt for as long as he can get away with. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Anwer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Anwer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Brandt defends it easily. Anwer tries to land a sweep but no joy. Anwer striking from his own guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Anwer fails with the takedown. Anwer shoots in for a takedown but Brandt shows good takedown defense. Brandt misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Anwer is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Anwer tries a head kick but it misses.
Anwer lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Anwer tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Brandt defends well and Anwer ends up having to push Brandt into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Brandt is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Anwer to keep the fight standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A frustrated look appears on Anwer's face as he tries to break the clinch. Anwer tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Brandt avoids it. Brandt gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Anwer.
Anwer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Brandt smiles and moves away.
Anwer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Brandt misses with a wild body shot. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A looping hook to the body misses from Brandt. Anwer does a little dance to reset his feet. Anwer attempts a counter takedown but Brandt avoids it well and moves away. Anwer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brandt avoids it really well and circles away.
And that's the end of the fight! Zuhair Anwer showed his dominance in that final round. Well Anwer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
