PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Toby Bryant (ranked 3870 p4p, 2689 weight class) and Navin Haynes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bryant's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Badgers. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Toby Bryant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Navin Haynes!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Haynes does no damage.
Haynes throws a combination that misses
and Haynes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Bryant counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Haynes is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Bryant counters with a nice body kick.
Haynes misses with a double jab
and Bryant counters with a crisp one two that drops Haynes! Bryant thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Haynes to his feet! Haynes is in big trouble!
Haynes is rocked!
Bryant fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Haynes, pushing him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bryant has Haynes pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bryant pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Haynes tumbling to the mat - Bryant dives into Haynes's guard.
Haynes is still in real trouble! Can Bryant finish him?
Haynes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bryant. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bryant decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Haynes seems to have recovered his senses.
Haynes throws a left and a right that both miss
and Bryant counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Haynes looks winded!
Bryant gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Haynes tries to kick Bryant off in order to stand up. Bryant Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Bryant has an Americana. Haynes didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Bryant is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Bryant hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Toby Bryant!
A relieved looking Toby Bryant thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
