Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Alro (ranked 3358 p4p, 3357 weight class) and Slade Hodge (ranked 315 p4p, 314 weight class). Slade Hodge has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Alro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Slade Hodge! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodge has managed to clinch.
Alro pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Alro looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Alro keeps the fight on the outside. Alro throws a good cross that connects.
Hodge throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Alro tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hodge is in Alro's guard. Hodge working some strikes from top position. Hodge with a flurry of punches that miss. Hodge would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Hodge preventing the sweep. Hodge must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Alro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hodge is controlling him. Hodge slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Alro wants to stand but Hodge is controlling the position.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Hodge fails to land the takedown. Alro tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hodge swivels and escapes. Alro lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Hodge with a lazy takedown attempt and Alro counters with a straight right hand. Alro throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alro throws a right and a left that both miss. Hodge is trying hard to land a takedown here. Alro sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Alro drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hodge sprawls and moves away. Juan Alro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Slade Hodge. Hodge tries to clinch there but Alro circles away.
Alro has closed the distance and engaged Hodge in a clinch.
Alro breaks from the clinch.
Hodge shoots in but Alro avoids the takedown attempt easily. Alro moves into range and connects with a jab.
 That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hodge closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alro is trying to stand up here but Hodge is controlling him well. Hodge looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Hodge lands with a punch from half guard. Hodge is controlling the pace.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hodge closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Hodge keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Hodge is thwarting Alro's attempts to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hodge stalling.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Alro is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hodge sitting and controlling from the half guard. Hodge is nestled in close to Alro, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Hodge seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. It looks like Hodge might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Juan Alro will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Hodge misses with a takedown attempt - Alro sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hodge drives through with a takedown into guard. Alro wants to stand and escape but Hodge is having none of it. Alro looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Hodge's corner is telling him to maintain position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hodge trying to control but Alro is working from the bottom. Hodge throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alro works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Hodge controlling from the top position. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Alro trying to control the position.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Hodge defending well as Alro loads up on a big left hand. Nice shot by Alro.
 It looks like Slade Hodge has been cut. Hodge misses with a takedown and Alro counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hodge's knee momentarily. Hodge dives in and grabs Alro's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alro pushes down on Hodge's head and hops out. Juan Alro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Slade Hodge. Alro tries to clinch but Hodge is having none of it. Hodge shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alro defends it nicely. Alro fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Hodge wants to clinch up but Alro keeps it at a distance.
Hodge manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Alro on his heels. He'll look to pass Alro's guard now, I'm sure. Hodge wants to control from the top but Alro keeps moving. Alro tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hodge sitting in guard here, content to control. Hodge is continuing to stall.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Alro trying to control the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Alro keeping moving, preventing Hodge from controlling successfully.
 The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Hodge steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Alro.
Alro gets caught flat footed, as Hodge shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Hodge passes Alro's left leg - he's now in half guard. Hodge is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Alro looking for submissions off his back.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Hodge is taking a breather. Alro says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Hodge is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Still in half guard, Hodge seems content to control. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Slade Hodge will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Slade Hodge's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Alro throws a nice outside leg kick.
Alro rushes Hodge and presses him up against the cage. Hodge wants a takedown.
Alro crunches a lovely knee into Hodge's ribcage. Alro tries to land knees in the clinch but Hodge avoids the damage to the body.
Alro breaks the clinch.
Hodge shoots in but no luck this time. Alro moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Alro closes the distance and lands a one-two. Hodge tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alro sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hodge somewhat. Juan Alro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Slade Hodge. Hodge swats away the attempt to clinch by Alro. Hodge takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Alro connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hodge momentarily.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Hodge takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hodge fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alro sprawls well initially but Hodge persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Alro wants to stand back up but Hodge manages to pass into side control.
Alro prevents Hodge from improving position. Hodge is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Alro is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Hodge in side control, throwing shots but Alro defends.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Alro is looking for a sweep. Hodge wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alro keeps working. Hodge might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alro haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Hodge remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. The adventures of Hodge the control monster continue. Boring.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Alro can't do much from the bottom here. Alro tries to escape but Hodge is in control. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Hodge shoots in but Alro avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hodge tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alro swivels and escapes. Hodge blocks a head kick by Alro.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Alro shoots in but Hodge avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hodge fails with the takedown.
Hodge closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alro did well to prevent Hodge getting side control. Alro is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hodge passes to full mount! Hodge working away from the top, dropping strikes. Hodge controlling from mount. Hodge lands a heavy elbow.
And that's the end of the fight! Juan Alro showed his dominance in that final round. I think Alro has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
