Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges St Pierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pharrel Dickinson! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Pierre misses with a head kick.
St Pierre tries to clinch but Dickinson is having none of it. Oooh a lovely combination from Dickinson sends St Pierre down but not out. Dickinson dives into side control looking to finish.
It looks like Georges St Pierre has been cut. Dickinson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. St Pierre is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Dickinson wants to stand but St Pierre has his arm trapped. St Pierre sneaks out the side door and pushes Dickinson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dickinson wants to clinch. A combination from St Pierre does no damage. Dickinson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows St Pierre to score an easy takedown into full guard. St Pierre won't allow Dickinson to sweep him here. Dickinson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in St Pierre's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
St Pierre looking to sweep here. No luck so far. St Pierre escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dickinson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Dickinson wants to get up but he can't break St Pierre's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. St Pierre is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. St Pierre is breathing heavily. Dickinson wants to stand but St Pierre is controlling his posture from full guard. Dickinson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Dickinson lands a nice looking body shot.
Dickinson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. St Pierre takes a body punch but keeps moving. Dickinson doesn't manage to clinch there - St Pierre circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dickinson forces St Pierre back against the ropes and clinches. St Pierre keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Dickinson's efforts to push away. Dickinson tries to circle away but St Pierre has him pinned against the ropes. Dickinson goes for a takedown attempt but St Pierre pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dickinson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent St Pierre stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Dickinson lands a nice looking body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dickinson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but St Pierre paws at him with a jab and circles away. Dickinson cracks St Pierre with a good jab. Dickinson lands a jab-cross combination. St Pierre circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dickinson moves in looking to clinch but St Pierre pushes him off. Dickinson with a body punch. A glancing blow. Georges St Pierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dickinson scores with a one two! St Pierre had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
St Pierre is rocked! A big right followed by a crushing left from Dickinson knocks St Pierre out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
