Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hiroshi Tanaka (ranked 4880 p4p, 4239 weight class) and Michael Powerhouse (ranked 485 p4p, 449 weight class). Michael Powerhouse will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroshi Tanaka! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Powerhouse! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Powerhouse shoots in for a takedown but Tanaka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Tanaka is looking to counter the offense by Powerhouse and move into the clinch.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Tanaka jumps guard.
Tanaka on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tanaka tries to get out of the position. Powerhouse controls from within his opponent's guard. Powerhouse stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tanaka swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Powerhouse with a flurry of punches that miss.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Powerhouse throws a big elbow that misses. Powerhouse wants to control from the top but Tanaka keeps moving. Powerhouse sitting in guard here, content to control. Powerhouse wants to control from the top but Tanaka keeps moving.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Powerhouse is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Tanaka shoots in looking for a takedown but Powerhouse manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tanaka's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Tanaka is breathing heavily. Powerhouse misses with a jab, cross combination.
Tanaka dives in and grabs Powerhouse's left leg, looking for a takedown. Powerhouse pushes down on Tanaka's head and hops out. Tanaka looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Tanaka lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Powerhouse circles away quickly and effectively. Powerhouse shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Powerhouse goes for a double leg but Tanaka avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Tanaka continues to drive forward. Tanaka drops down looking for a counter takedown but Powerhouse sprawls and moves away. Hiroshi Tanaka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Powerhouse. Powerhouse tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tanaka defends well and Powerhouse ends up having to push Tanaka into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Tanaka drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Powerhouse is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Tanaka's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Tanaka is looking to take a break and control but Powerhouse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Powerhouse is concentrating on defense, preventing Tanaka from advancing position. Powerhouse tries to get to full guard but Tanaka has control of the leg.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Powerhouse is trying to maintain the position but Tanaka is very close to passing his half guard. Tanaka seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Powerhouse trying to control but Tanaka postures up.
 The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tanaka pushes Powerhouse up against the cage in a clinch. Powerhouse tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Tanaka avoids it.
Tanaka jumps guard and drags Powerhouse to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Tanaka keeping moving, preventing Powerhouse from controlling successfully. Tanaka not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
 That's four minutes gone in the round.
Powerhouse gets to his feet - Tanaka follows without any prompting. Powerhouse fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Tanaka slaps away a takedown attempt from Powerhouse, before circling back to the center of the mat. Powerhouse is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Powerhouse throws a shot to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tanaka blocks a head kick by Powerhouse.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Hiroshi Tanaka dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Powerhouse lands a head kick. Tanaka smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Powerhouse lands a two punch combo.
Tanaka closes the distance and pushes Powerhouse back into the cage. Tanaka has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Powerhouse is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Powerhouse is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tanaka gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Tanaka works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Powerhouse is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Tanaka dives into side control.
Powerhouse struggling a bit here. Hiroshi Tanaka overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tanaka is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Powerhouse knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Tanaka taking a break here but Powerhouse is having none of it and regains half guard. Powerhouse trying to control here.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Powerhouse tries to get to full guard but Tanaka has control of the leg.
Powerhouse manages to escape and get back to his feet! Tanaka avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tanaka goes for a double leg but Powerhouse avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Powerhouse continues to drive forward. Powerhouse wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Powerhouse is defended easily by Tanaka. Powerhouse lands a body shot.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Tanaka. No joy for Powerhouse on that attempt. Powerhouse pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Tanaka back to the cage. Powerhouse follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Powerhouse rushes Tanaka and presses him up against the cage. Powerhouse wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tanaka has him pressed against the cage. Powerhouse tries to pull guard but Tanaka forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Tanaka has Powerhouse pushed against the cage.
Tanaka pulls guard effortlessly. Powerhouse postures up.
Powerhouse slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Michael Powerhouse will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Powerhouse tries for a takedown but Tanaka sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Tanaka is looking to counter the offense by Powerhouse and move into the clinch. Horrible takedown attempt by Powerhouse or perhaps it was just good defense by Tanaka, which made it look bad.
Tanaka shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Tanaka was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Tanaka fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Powerhouse is not content to let Tanaka control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tanaka tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tanaka has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
 That's one minute gone in the round. Tanaka tries to move into full mount but can't pass Powerhouse's legs. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Tanaka is looking to take a break and control but Powerhouse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Powerhouse tries to improve position but can't. Powerhouse can't do much from the bottom here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Powerhouse manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Powerhouse has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tanaka is working away from the top position though. Tanaka tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Powerhouse.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Tanaka seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Powerhouse does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Powerhouse is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Tanaka scores with a couple of nice shots. Powerhouse wants to get back to full guard. Powerhouse is staying active underneath Tanaka, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tanaka tries to pass the half guard into mount. Powerhouse knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Tanaka is trying to control. Powerhouse wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Hiroshi Tanaka showed his dominance in that final round. Well Tanaka has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
