Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rico Salvacion (ranked 23210 p4p, 23323 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 55 - 68 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 44 - 78 - 7, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Salvacion decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Salvacion in particular looking to stall.
Bitok wants to get back to full guard.
Salvacion controlling the pace.
Bitok wants to sweep but Salvacion has passed to side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion controls the position.

Salvacion seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bitok for as long as he can get away with.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Bitok can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Horrible takedown attempt by Salvacion or perhaps it was just good defense by Bitok, which made it look bad.

and Bitok counters with a left and a right that stings Salvacion.

Bitok keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Salvacion defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bitok.
Salvacion quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Salvacion is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bitok sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Despite the aggression on Bitok's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Salvacion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok dominated that round.
That's time! Salvacion's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Salvacion shoots in for a double leg but Bitok sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Bitok feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Salvacion pulls Bitok in close to prevent any damage.
Bitok loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bitok seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bitok stuffs the takedown attempt from Salvacion. Salvacion gets slowly back to his feet.

Bitok closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Salvacion tries to improve position but can't.
Bitok throwing shots but missing, from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Salvacion wants to control but Bitok postures up.
Bitok trying to control the action but Salvacion is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bitok is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Salvacion will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bitok working away.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bitok drives through with a takedown into Salvacion's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bitok is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Bitok closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bitok looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Salvacion has his hands clasped together around Bitok's back. He's all about the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bitok is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Salvacion tries to get to full guard but Bitok has control of the leg.

Bitok keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bitok shoots in but no luck this time.
Salvacion throws a quick counter kick to the body but Bitok avoids it.

Salvacion changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bitok looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Salvacion happy to just control the position for now.
Salvacion continues to stall.
Bitok tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rico Salvacion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kulata Bitok is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Kulata Bitok has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Salvacion content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

and Bitok finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rico Salvacion.
Well Bitok has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
