Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jubei Akechi (ranked 2439 p4p, 2864 weight class) and Rasmus Reedtz (ranked 218 p4p, 243 weight class). Jubei Akechi had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 30 - 27 - 0, fighting out of London, Jubei Akechi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rasmus Reedtz! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reedtz attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Akechi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Reedtz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Reedtz misses with a left hand and Akechi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Reedtz thinking. Akechi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Reedtz tries to avoid it but Akechi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Reedtz to the ground. Reedtz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Akechi works the jab nicely.
Reedtz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Reedtz lands in his opponent's guard. Akechi being controlled here, momentarily. Akechi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reedtz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Akechi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Reedtz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Reedtz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Reedtz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reedtz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Reedtz fails with the takedown and Akechi counters with a lovely straight right hand! Akechi throws out a powerful jab. Akechi avoids the head kick by Reedtz.

 It looks like Rasmus Reedtz has been cut. Akechi throws a body punch but Reedtz moves out of range.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Reedtz is still trying to improve position.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Akechi takes a swing at Reedtz's ribcage but misses. Akechi scores with a jab to the head.
Reedtz misses with a straight left. Akechi lands with a right hand. Akechi throws a hook but Reedtz avoids it easily. Akechi stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Reedtz. Akechi is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Akechi throws a hook but Reedtz avoids it easily. Reedtz connects with a solid leg kick. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Akechi fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Reedtz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Reedtz throws a jab when Akechi was well out of range. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jubei Akechi will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Rasmus Reedtz's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Reedtz is continuing to stall. Reedtz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Reedtz is defended easily by Akechi. Reedtz jabbing away but nothing is landing. Reedtz walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Akechi is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Nice defenses there by Akechi. Akechi scores with a jab. Akechi looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Akechi wants to clinch up but Reedtz keeps it at a distance. Reedtz takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Rasmus Reedtz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Reedtz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Akechi.

Reedtz shoots in and bounces Akechi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Akechi can't keep his opponent in guard - Reedtz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Reedtz passes to full mount!
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Reedtz controlling the pace for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Reedtz sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Reedtz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Akechi is looking to escape. Reedtz dominating with strikes here. Reedtz wants to control the pace but Akechi is squirming around nicely. Reedtz controlling the pace for now.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Reedtz trying to control but he's not successful this time. Reedtz controlling the position easily from mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Akechi wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Reedtz.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

 Our spies down at at Rasmus's Fun House inform us that Reedtz has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Reedtz wants to hit a sweep here but Akechi passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Reedtz there! Reedtz tries to get back to half guard but can't.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Akechi tries to control but Reedtz wriggling away. Reedtz is wriggling around trying to escape.

Reedtz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Reedtz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Akechi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Rasmus Reedtz has got the better of the ground game so far. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Reedtz holds on and takes a little breather. Akechi content to stall in guard here. Reedtz managing to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Reedtz looking for a sweep. Not yet Reedtz, not yet.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jubei Akechi. I think Akechi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
