PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Reilly (ranked 3360 p4p, 2105 weight class) and Dante Drayman (ranked 386 p4p, 268 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mauricio Reilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dante Drayman!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drayman lands a right hook to the body.
Reilly throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Drayman sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Reilly looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Drayman checks a leg kick.

Reilly drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Drayman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Reilly trying to control the position but Drayman is working away.
Drayman is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reilly has control of an arm but Drayman manages to advance to Reilly's back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reilly is in all sorts of trouble here.
Drayman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Drayman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reilly does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Reilly is positioning himself well to prevent Drayman advancing to mount.
Drayman is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Reilly is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Drayman is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Drayman cracks Reilly with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Reilly throws a body shot but no joy.
Drayman looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Dante Drayman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Drayman throws a body shot but no joy.
Drayman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Reilly throws a low kick but Drayman moves out of range easily.
Reilly throws a front kick aimed at Drayman's knee but Drayman avoids it well.
Drayman just misses with a punch to the body.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A telegraphed right hand from Drayman misses the target.
Reilly drops down looking for a counter takedown but Drayman sprawls and moves away.
Reilly slips a straight right by Drayman.
Reilly takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Reilly tries a low kick but Drayman avoids it.
Drayman scores with a body shot.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dante Drayman dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Reilly counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Reilly.

Drayman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reilly doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reilly manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Drayman has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Reilly has passed into side control.
Drayman takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

It looks like Dante Drayman has been cut.
Reilly is working Drayman over with some ground and pound from side control.

The cut above Dante Drayman's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dante Drayman's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
