Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Powerhouse (ranked 5185 p4p, 5052 weight class) and Mateo Costa (ranked 477 p4p, 473 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Michael Powerhouse has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Michael Powerhouse seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Powerhouse! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mateo Costa! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Powerhouse shoots in for a double leg but Costa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Costa looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Powerhouse! Powerhouse regains half guard.
Powerhouse is defending against the submission attempts here by Costa.
Costa should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Powerhouse trying to control but Costa postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Costa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Powerhouse keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Costa can do anything to dispel that myth. Powerhouse gets to mount! Costa was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Powerhouse can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Costa is looking to escape. Powerhouse is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Costa is defending well though. Powerhouse let's go of the attempt for now. Costa trying to get back to his feet but Powerhouse is in full control for now.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Powerhouse avoiding Costa 's attempts to control his hands. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. I really don't envy Costa right now.

Powerhouse really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Powerhouse not allowing Costa to control his hands. Costa rolls, trying to escape but Powerhouse keeps control of the position.

Costa is fending him off so far but Powerhouse persists. Nope, Costa circles away and we're back to standing. Powerhouse is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Costa can do to turn this around? Costa darts in looking for a takedown but Powerhouse gets double underhooks and turns Costa into the cage.
Costa clinches up with Powerhouse and pushes him back against the cage. Powerhouse gets underhooks to prevent Costa's takedown attempt.

Costa has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Powerhouse clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Costa has his opponent's back but Powerhouse is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Costa. Powerhouse shoots in but Costa avoids the takedown attempt easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Costa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Powerhouse is fending him off so far but Costa persists. Nope, Powerhouse circles away and we're back to standing. Costa throws a body shot but no joy. Powerhouse appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Nice sprawl there from Costa as Powerhouse shoots in. Costa changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Costa is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Powerhouse's half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Costa is looking to take a break and control but Powerhouse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Powerhouse is staying active underneath Costa, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Costa is looking to pass Powerhouse's guard but actually Powerhouse recovers to full guard. Powerhouse avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Powerhouse keeping moving, preventing Costa from controlling successfully. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Costa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa throwing strikes from guard but Powerhouse blocks nicely. Michael Powerhouse overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Costa trying to control the position from guard on top but Powerhouse is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Costa drives through and clinches with Powerhouse against the cage.
Powerhouse is trying to pull guard but Costa turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Powerhouse is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Costa wants a takedown.
Costa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Powerhouse smiles and moves away.
Costa leaves Powerhouse with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Costa throws a counter combo.

Powerhouse shoots in looking for a takedown but Costa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Powerhouse's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. As Powerhouse backs off Costa throws a huge counter combo but Powerhouse manages to avoid it all.
Costa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Powerhouse to the mat! Powerhouse manages to get full guard. Costa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Powerhouse keeping moving, preventing Costa from controlling successfully. Costa with a flurry of punches that miss. Costa wants to control from the top but Powerhouse keeps moving. Costa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Powerhouse is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Costa defends well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Mateo Costa will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Costa is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Powerhouse.
Costa gets a clinch. Costa has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Costa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Powerhouse is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Costa is trying to pull guard but Powerhouse has him pressed against the cage.
Powerhouse escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
