PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gakus Amiga (ranked 23343 p4p, 23104 weight class) and Clifford Val Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 50 - 70 - 7, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gakus Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 88 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Salvacion fails with a takedown attempt.
Amiga throws a quick counter kick to the body but Salvacion avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Salvacion enables Amiga to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Salvacion manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Salvacion looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Amiga is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Salvacion has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Amiga sitting in guard here, content to control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Amiga defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Salvacion.
Gakus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clifford Val Salvacion.

Salvacion fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Amiga is looking for a counter combo.
Amiga misses with a takedown attempt - Salvacion sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Salvacion is trying to counter with his kicks.

Amiga gets the takedown into side control.

Gakus Amiga dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Amiga lands a head kick!
Amiga shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Salvacion sprawls well. Salvacion wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Amiga gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Amiga quickly recovers to half guard.
Amiga trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Amiga is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Salvacion controlling the position easily from mount.
Salvacion avoids the attempt from Amiga to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Clifford Val Salvacion has got the better of the ground game so far.
Salvacion lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Amiga is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Salvacion takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Amiga wants to hold on but Salvacion pushes him away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Let's hope that Salvacion has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Clifford Val Salvacion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Amiga throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Amiga is in Salvacion's guard.

Salvacion has his hands on Amiga's head, controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Salvacion controls Amiga momentarily but Amiga frees himself.
Amiga's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Amiga stopping the sweep attempt from Salvacion.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Salvacion has Amiga pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Amiga is defended easily by Salvacion.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Salvacion sprawls well. Salvacion wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Amiga gets slowly back to his feet.
Salvacion steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Salvacion decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Amiga controlling the position well.
Amiga trying to hold on to Salvacion's head to control him but Salvacion postures up.

Salvacion content to control rather than advance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Clifford Val Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Salvacion has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
