This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 33 wins and 22 losses; Satan Blue! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 21 wins and 14 losses; Kron Gracie! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Blue manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Blue gets a double leg takedown into Gracie's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Blue (2) vs (0) Gracie Gracie looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Blue is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Gracie is trying to keep Blue in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie working a defensive guard but Blue manages to pass into side control anyway.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Blue wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Gracie is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Blue off and has taken his back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Blue (5) vs (4) Gracie Blue breaks Gracie's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Blue (7) vs (4) Gracie Gracie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Gracie controls Blue momentarily but Blue frees himself. Blue trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Blue slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Blue preventing the sweep.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Blue advances position into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Blue (10) vs (4) Gracie Blue controlling the position from side mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gracie tries to bench press Blue off him but Blue keeps the position. Gracie is trying to control Blue's posture but Blue avoids it. Gracie is trying to get back to half guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie can't do much from the bottom here. Gracie stuck in half guard on the bottom here. Gracie is looking to reverse the position. Gracie keeps trying to improve his position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Blue in side control, just content to control the action for now. Blue wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy. Blue in the domination position with Gracie hanging on.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Blue content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Gracie is trying to control Blue's posture but Blue avoids it.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Blue has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Blue tries to advance to mount but can't.
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Gracie is not content to let Blue control the position. Blue content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Blue tries to advance position but instead Gracie slips a leg back in to half guard.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Gracie wants to hit a sweep here but Blue passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gracie there! Score +3 for passing guard: Blue (13) vs (4) Gracie Gracie is looking to improve his position but Blue isn't that keen on the idea.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Gracie reaches up to try and control the position but Blue seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Gracie rolls and tries to escape and now Blue has his back!
Score +3 for taking back: Blue (16) vs (4) Gracie Gracie trying to control the hands but Blue breaks the grip. Gracie felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Blue controlling the position well here. Gracie rolled but Blue kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Gracie trying to control the position but Blue manages to sink in the hooks. Blue has good solid back control here. Will Blue go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Blue seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Gracie tries to roll but Blue sticks to his back.
Gracie is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Blue is riding his opponent, not letting Gracie buck him off. This is a sustained period of stalling by Blue. Gracie tries to roll but Blue sticks to his back.
Gracie is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Gracie is really stuck here.

And that's the end of the fight! Blue takes the fight on points by 16 to 4. After winning the bout, Satan Blue thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
