PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between River Napom (ranked 4791 p4p, 4703 weight class) and Jean Woodward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that River Napom has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily River Napom seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, River Napom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Woodward!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Napom displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Woodward.
Woodward tries to score a power double leg takedown but Napom sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Woodward somewhat.

and Woodward counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Woodward.
Napom is wriggling around but Woodward manages to pass to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Napom wants to control but Woodward is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Woodward looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Napom with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Napom is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Woodward scores with a couple of nice shots.
Woodward slows the pace down in half guard.
It looks like Woodward might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Woodward lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Still in half guard, Woodward seems content to control.
Napom has hold of Woodward's hands but Woodward slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Woodward is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Woodward landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Woodward is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Woodward stalling away here and it's allowed Napom to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Woodward cracks Napom with a solid left hand.
Woodward stays in close to Napom's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Woodward keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Napom's head.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jean Woodward dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Woodward drops an elbow to the side of Napom's head.
Woodward lands a big elbow - Napom is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Woodward!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jean Woodward!
