Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerome Spong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rufus Dugout!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Spong.
Dugout misses with the combination.
Dugout throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dugout throws a poor cross that misses
and Dugout takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Rufus Dugout has been cut.
Dugout throws a right hand that Spong ducks under and follows up with a left that Spong also avoids with ease.
Dugout throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Spong ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Dugout missing with a left hand there. Spong was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Spong cracks Dugout with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Spong has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Dugout to stand back up!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dugout gets tackled into the cage by Spong. Spong maintains the clinch.
Spong lands a right hand.
Dugout working aggressively here.
Spong makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Dugout breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dugout tries to land a front kick but Spong steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Spong throws a hook to the side of Dugout's head but Dugout sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Spong uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dugout.
Spong cracks Dugout with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Spong has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Dugout to stand back up!
Dugout is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Spong throws an uppercut from hell that sends Dugout clean off his feet! He's out cold! Spong stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jerome Spong!
After the fight, Jerome Spong was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
