Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lieutenant Data (ranked 770 p4p, 932 weight class) and War Turtle (ranked 81 p4p, 95 weight class). Data's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Lamb of God - The Undertow. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lieutenant Data!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, War Turtle!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Data goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Turtle has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Data checks a leg kick.
Decent striking displayed by Data there.
Data fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Turtle manages to avoid it.
Turtle throws a shot from downtown. Data moves away and avoids it.
Turtle keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Data.
Data gets a takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Turtle tries to get to full guard but Data has control of the leg.

Turtle tries to roll over but Data keeps him under control.

Data is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Turtle controls Data momentarily but Data frees himself.
Data postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Turtle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Turtle is looking for a triangle but Data pushes his legs off easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Turtle has his foot on Data's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Data works his way back into a safe position though.
Data scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Turtle is trying to keep Data in close.

Data throws out a loose jab but Turtle uses good head movement to avoid it.
Turtle looks for the body kick but Data saw that one coming.
Data throws an overhand right that lands on Turtle's shoulder, as Turtle tries to avoid the shot.

Data bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Turtle misses with an uppercut. Data saw that one coming.
Data misses with a lunging right hand
and Data takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Data uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Data walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Turtle on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Data fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lieutenant Data. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Data changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Turtle tries to avoid it but Data manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Turtle to the ground. Turtle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Data jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Turtle throws a body shot but no joy.

and Data counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Turtle connects with a solid leg kick.
Data ducks under a wild hook from Turtle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Turtle gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Data to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lieutenant Data overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Turtle is trying to keep Data in close.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
War Turtle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Data tries to close the distance and clinch but Turtle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Turtle connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Turtle throws a leg kick but Data moved away.
Data dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Turtle takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Both fighters circling a little - Data finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Data dives in for a single leg takedown but Turtle sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Turtle tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Data misses with a short punch on the inside.
Turtle gets control of Data's arms and successfully pulls guard. Turtle will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Turtle is trying to keep Data in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Turtle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Data defends well.
Data avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Turtle keeping moving, preventing Data from controlling successfully.

Data trying to control but Turtle is working from the bottom.
Data stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Turtle has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Data manages to get his head free but now Turtle has transitioned to an armbar! Data grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Turtle! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
