PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ian Kinsler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kiki Stomps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kiki Stomps was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ian Kinsler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kiki Stomps!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stomps looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Stomps trying to control but Kinsler is working from the bottom.

Stomps gets to his feet - Kinsler follows without any prompting.
Kinsler misses with the combination.
Kinsler throws a series of punches but Stomps moves out of range.

Stomps has closed the distance and engaged Kinsler in a clinch.

Stomps jumps into guard, dragging Kinsler to the mat.

Kinsler is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kinsler will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Kinsler throws a series of punches but Stomps moves out of range.
Stomps misses with a takedown attempt - Kinsler sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Stomps counters with a shoot takedown. Kinsler fights it but they end up in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stomps accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stomps has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Stomps decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kinsler to his feet.
Kinsler throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stomps.

Stomps wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kinsler keeps working.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stomps is working for a submission of some sort.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stomps dodges the punch combination from Kinsler.

Stomps stands and steps away. Kinsler gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kinsler will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kinsler looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kinsler throws a right and a left that Stomps avoids nicely.
Ian Kinsler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stomps lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kinsler takes a step back to recover.

and Stomps counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kinsler won't be happy with that.

You can see the frustration on Kinsler's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kinsler is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Stomps asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kinsler wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Stomps has him pressed against the cage.

Kinsler tries to break the clinch but Stomps is controlling the position.

Stomps blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Kinsler wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kinsler knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stomps on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stomps is on top in guard.
Stomps not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that Stomps has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Kinsler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stomps is working away from the top position though.
Stomps is tying to control. Kinsler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Stomps seems to be working for a kimura but Kinsler defends the submission attempt.

Stomps is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Kinsler wants to get back to his feet.
Stomps passes into side control, despite Kinsler's attempt to control the position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kiki Stomps just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kinsler misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A combination from Kinsler does no damage.

Stomps feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Stomps closes the distance and clinches up with Kinsler, looking for a takedown. Stomps pushes Kinsler against the cage but Kinsler circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kiki Stomps showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Stomps has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kinsler has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Kiki Stomps comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stomps has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
