The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Cowboy gets a clinch. Cowboy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hughes fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Cowboy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hughes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hughes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Hughes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cowboy is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cowboy can't keep his opponent in guard - Hughes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Hughes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cowboy sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Hughes seems to be working for a kimura but Cowboy defends the submission attempt. Cowboy is looking to control Hughes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cowboy avoid being mounted?
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes wants to take a breather but Cowboy is having none of it. Cowboy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Cowboy working a defensive guard but Hughes manages to pass into side control anyway.

Cowboy wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Hughes has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Cowboy's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Cowboy is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Hughes!
