Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zachary Challinor (ranked 2619 p4p, 4207 weight class) and Amstel Gross (ranked 307 p4p, 434 weight class). Challinor comes to the cage accompanied by Down Under. Amstel Gross will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gross tries to close the distance and clinch up but Challinor swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Challinor closes the distance and pushes Gross back into the cage.
Gross has Challinor pushed against the cage.
Gross misses with a body punch.
Challinor is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gross pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Gross is trying to pull guard but Challinor turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gross goes for a takedown attempt but Challinor pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gross is on top in guard.

Challinor manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Gross has his foot on Challinor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Challinor works his way back into a safe position though.

Gross is looking to control Challinor's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gross avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gross is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Challinor scores with a couple of nice shots.
Challinor seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gross does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Challinor uses his free foot to push down on Gross's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gross.
Gross is squirming around, avoiding Challinor's attempts to control the action.

Challinor is working for a guillotine from mount but Gross frees his head quite easily.
Challinor tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Gross has given up his back here.
Challinor is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Challinor has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Challinor looking to break Gross's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Gross remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Challinor will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The fight stays on the outside here - Gross looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Challinor shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gross but Gross pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Amstel Gross is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gross misses with a series of wild punches.
Gross tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Challinor counters with a single leg into guard. Gross didn't expect that.

Challinor looking to sit in guard and control but Gross gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Challinor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gross can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Challinor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gross is controlling him.

Challinor wriggles free and stands up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gross.
Challinor moves into the clinch.
Gross breaks the clinch.
Challinor forces Gross back against the cage and clinches.
Gross has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Challinor wants the takedown. Gross is fighting it off but Challinor persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gross's guard against the cage.
Challinor is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gross can do to turn this around?
Challinor cracks Gross with a solid left hand.
Challinor stands and throws Gross's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Gross is looking to reverse the position.
Gross is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Challinor goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gross has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Challinor but great work by Gross.
Challinor is trying to get back to half guard.
Challinor sneaks out the side door and pushes Gross away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gross shoots in for a double leg but Challinor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gross is kicking away at Challinor from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Challinor grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Gross trying to push Challinor off... Gross taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
