PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Walay Buut (ranked 23293 p4p, 23012 weight class) and Higanti Libat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 69 - 57 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 51 - 74 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Buut closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Libat did well to prevent Buut getting side control.
Libat is doing well to control the position and prevent Buut from advancing to side control.
Buut is taking a breather. Libat says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Buut seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Libat for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat is concentrating on defense, preventing Buut from advancing position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Buut shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Libat defends it nicely.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Buut drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Libat pulls Buut in close to his closed guard and prevents Buut from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Libat has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Buut is stalling in the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Libat controlling the position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Libat is continuing to stall.
Buut preventing the sweep.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buut fails with a takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Buut tries for a takedown but Libat sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Libat replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Buut blocks it well.

and Buut holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Buut gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Libat.

Libat is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Buut is defending well.

Libat changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Buut fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Libat shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Libat slows the pace down in half guard.
Libat wants to lay and pray for a moment but Buut keeps working.

Well, if Libat is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight� I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza� Yum. Can't wait.
Buut is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Libat throws a strike but Buut avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Libat postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Libat closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Buut to the mat! Buut manages to get full guard.
Libat slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Buut pulls Libat in close to prevent any damage.

Libat seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Higanti Libat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Buut's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Libat has his takedown stuffed
and Buut counters with a nice body shot.
Buut shoots for a takedown but Libat saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Libat dives in and grabs Buut's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buut pushes down on Libat's head and hops out.
Buut drops down looking for a counter takedown but Libat sprawls and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat checks a low kick from Buut.
Libat follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Buut.

Libat throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Buut's waist but Buut gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Libat off to one side.
Libat just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromBuut.

Buut quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Buut fails with the takedown.

Libat fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Buut to the ground. Libat is now in Buut's guard.
Libat trying to control the position from guard on top but Buut is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Libat is fighting to break Buut's control of his arms but Buut is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Libat content to stall in guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Buut has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Buut looking to hit a scissor sweep but Libat is one step ahead there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buut is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Higanti Libat comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Libat has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
