Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Mason (ranked 2128 p4p, 3189 weight class) and Elijah Highlander (ranked 220 p4p, 327 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenny Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Elijah Highlander! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Highlander throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mason appears to be looking for a counter takedown. No luck with that takedown attempt from Mason. Mason shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Highlander looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Mason tries to pull guard but Highlander forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Mason tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenny Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Highlander trying to keep a closed guard but Mason is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mason trying to control the position from guard on top but Highlander is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Mason slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Highlander is trying to work for a sweep but Mason has mounted him! Highlander is bucking up trying to escape but Mason cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Mason prevents Highlander from getting the reversal. We've been hearing that Mason has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Highlander wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Mason is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Highlander has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Highlander is really stuck here.

Mason is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Highlander's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Highlander's back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Will Mason go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

We've been informed that Highlander has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Mason just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mason controls Highlander momentarily but Highlander frees himself. Mason keeping moving, preventing Highlander from controlling successfully. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

 Mason is rocked!
 It looks like Kenny Mason has been cut. Mason can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Highlander controls the pace. Oh Mason is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Mason can't keep his opponent in guard - Highlander advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Highlander is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Highlander has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mason defend it? Highlander steps over the head and cranks it - Mason is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Highlander!
