Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matija Maestro (ranked 1993 p4p, 1847 weight class) and Guy River (ranked 180 p4p, 165 weight class). Maestro comes to the cage accompanied by Planet Caravan - Black Sabbath. River has chosen Gabon National Anthem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Guy River was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 25 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matija Maestro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 30 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Guy River! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! River throws a looping overhand right but Maestro ducks down to avoid it. Maestro swings for the body but River moves out of range.
A swing and a miss from River. Maestro ducks down and throws a hook to the body but River moves away. River takes a swing at Maestro's ribcage but misses. Maestro swings for the body but River moves out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from River! But no joy. Nice uppercut lands for River. That snapped Maestro's head back.
Maestro throws a right and a left that both miss.
Maestro closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming River to the mat! River manages to get full guard. Maestro keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of River's head. Maestro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. River swivels though and keeps the full guard. River is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Maestro working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of River's head. Maestro landing with the ground and pound. Maestro pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. River is keeping the position for now.
 That's one minute gone in the round. River is trying to keep Maestro in close.
Maestro wants to control from the top but River keeps moving. Maestro tries to free his leg and advance position but River is retaining full guard. River is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maestro lands a couple of digs. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. River pulls Maestro in close to prevent any damage. Maestro lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. River has momentary wrist control but Maestro slips an elbow through the middle.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Maestro chips away with some ground and pound. Maestro sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed River's guard. Maestro working River over with strikes. River is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Maestro is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Maestro seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ground and pound from Maestro. Maestro looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. River really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maestro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. River is looking to improve his position.
River is trying to maintain the position but Maestro is very close to passing his half guard. Maestro is trying to control the action in half guard but River is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Maestro is looking to advance position but River won't allow it. Maestro is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Maestro is trying to control. River wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. River wants to control but Maestro is keeping busy.
Maestro frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Maestro landing punches. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maestro content just to control the position here. Maestro with shots to the head and body - River looks very uncomfortable down there. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Matija Maestro dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Matija Maestro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch lands to the side of River 's head but he takes it in his stride. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. River scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Maestro doesn't seem bothered though. River looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. River lands an overhand right. River fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Maestro is out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Maestro is looking to clinch but River is avoiding it.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Maestro misses with a hook. River ducked under it nicely. River scores with a nice right hand.
River throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Guy River seems to be getting the better of the standup. River keeps the fight on the outside. Maestro connects with a good right hand that stumbles River. River circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Maestro throws out a loose jab but River uses good head movement to avoid it. Maestro misses with a wild body shot. A shot to the body from Maestro misses and River counters with a lovely straight right hand! Maestro throws a shot to the body.
Maestro wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Maestro is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that River can do to turn this around? Maestro swings and misses with a hook to the body.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Maestro gets through River's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. River wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Maestro has him pressed against the cage. Maestro lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. River fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Maestro has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by River after a bit of a struggle. Maestro prevents River from breaking the clinch. Maestro blocks an uppercut.

Maestro misses with a hook from the clinch. River tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Maestro's elbow. Maestro lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Maestro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Maestro drops back looking for a leg! River is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and River manages to kick Maestro off! Maestro jumps back into River's guard. River has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at REAL Rasslin. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Maestro is working River over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! River not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Let's see if River can do anything to dispel that myth. Maestro is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Maestro landing some decent shots from guard. Matija Maestro dominated that second round. That's time! Maestro's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
River uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Maestro has time to react. Maestro is looking to wear down River with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. A looping hook to the body misses from Maestro. River does a little dance to reset his feet. Maestro connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between River's hands. River getting the better of the striking in that exchange. River avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Maestro tries to clinch but River is having none of it. Maestro ducks down and throws a hook to the body but River moves away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. River takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Maestro keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from River. Maestro moves away from the strike by River. River has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from River there as he acknowledges the shot. River avoids the body shot from Maestro.
 That's one minute gone in the round. River lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Maestro misses with a wild body shot. Maestro avoids a lazy jab quite easily. River works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. River misses with an attempted mid kick.
Maestro throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck River on the side of the head. Maestro misses with a two punch combination.

Maestro shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Maestro was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! River wants to control but Maestro postures up. Maestro looks up at the clock and then as River takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Maestro smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
 That's two minutes gone in the round. River is not content to let Maestro control the position. Maestro remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. River tries to improve position but can't. Maestro lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. River tries to buck Maestro off but Maestro is having none of it. River on the wrong end of some ground and pound. A lull in the action here.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Maestro tries to advance to mount but River denies him. Maestro wants to lay and pray for a moment but River keeps working. Matija Maestro is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. River trying to remain calm as Maestro controls from the top position. Guy River has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! River tries to bench press Maestro off him but Maestro keeps the position. River being controlled for a moment. River is trying to control Maestro's posture but Maestro avoids it.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Maestro controls the position. River struggling a bit here. Maestro slows the pace down. Maestro working away. You can see the frustration on River's face as Maestro controls the position. River struggling a bit here. Maestro is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that's the end of the fight! Matija Maestro showed his dominance in that final round. Well Maestro has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
