The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Dawson - just one landing.

Vagabov throws a hook to the side of Dawson's head but Dawson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Islam Vagabov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dawson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vagabov.

Dawson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Vagabov looks to land a combination but Dawson avoids it well.

Vagabov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dawson's guard.
Vagabov tries to stand but Dawson is controlling from the bottom.

Vagabov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vagabov gets to his feet. Dawson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vagabov cracks Dawson with a good jab.
Vagabov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vagabov scores with a sloppy right hand. Dawson should have avoided that one.

Dawson connects with a body shot that sends Vagabov's belly button to the back.
Dawson is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Vagabov moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Islam Vagabov!
