Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sonny Carisi (ranked 3324 p4p, 25288 weight class) and Fish Oper (ranked 332 p4p, 489 weight class). Fish Oper is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sonny Carisi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fish Oper! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carisi lands with an overhand left.
Oper gets in close and instigates a clinch. Carisi avoiding damage as Oper throws knees to the body.
Carisi lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Oper backwards. Carisi managing to block the knees to the body from Oper.
Carisi misses with a hook from the clinch. Carisi jumps guard but Oper turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Oper tries to land knees in the clinch but Carisi avoids the damage to the body. A right hand to the body from Carisi.

Carisi lands a hook to the side of the head. Oper lands a good knee to the midsection. Carisi won't want to take too many of those. Carisi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carisi gets through Oper's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Carisi is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Oper is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Oper is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carisi is defending well for now. Oper missing with knees to the body.

Both guys are working to get underhooks. Oper misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Carisi.
Carisi jumps guard and drags Oper to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. My spies in Cozad MMA Las Vegas inform me that Oper has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Oper missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carisi is on top in guard.
 Oper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carisi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Carisi wants to control from the top but Oper keeps moving. Carisi advances to half guard. Oper won't allow Carisi to pass to mount. Oper desperately trying to maintain half guard. Oper is refusing to be controlled, as Carisi sits in half guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carisi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Oper is in trouble now - Carisi has advanced to mount! Carisi content just to control the position here. Carisi trying to control but he's not successful this time. Carisi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Carisi prevents Oper from getting the reversal.
 That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carisi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Oper can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Carisi wants to take Oper's back here but Oper is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Carisi wants to take Oper's back but he can't do it this time. Carisi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Oper is looking to escape. Carisi fails to take his opponent's back. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Carisi lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Carisi works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Carisi jumps guard but Oper turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Carisi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Oper can do to turn this around? A left hand lands to the body for Carisi.
Carisi throws a head punch that misses. Oper tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Carisi avoids it. Oper missing with knees to the body.
Carisi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Oper walks away with a smile on his face. Carisi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Oper get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Oper stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Carisi runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sonny Carisi!
