Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sato Ngata (ranked 3772 p4p, 3145 weight class) and Siopepa Vailine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Siopepa Vailine told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sato Ngata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Siopepa Vailine!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vailine swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ngata counters with a single leg into guard. Vailine didn't expect that.
Vailine working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Ngata has passed into half guard!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ngata in particular looking to stall.
Vailine tries to get to full guard but Ngata has control of the leg.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ngata working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
It looks like Siopepa Vailine has been cut.
Vailine tries to get to full guard but Ngata has control of the leg.
Ngata is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ngata landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Ngata is nestled in close to Vailine, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Vailine is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ngata pulls his head out easily.

Vailine is rocked!
Ngata works his foot free and advances to mount.
Vailine is still in real trouble! Can Ngata finish him?
Vailine can't escape the position.
Vailine slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Ngata lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Vailine quite badly. Vailine pulls Ngata in close trying to recover. Ngata postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Vailine on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Vailine doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sato Ngata!
