Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thalys Soares (ranked 3218 p4p, 4055 weight class) and Ronnie Sampson (ranked 314 p4p, 375 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thalys Soares! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ronnie Sampson! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sampson is looking to clinch but Soares is avoiding it.
Sampson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Soares shoots in and bounces Sampson off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Sampson is wriggling around but Soares manages to pass to half guard.
Soares trying to control the pace. Sampson is looking to control Soares's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sampson avoid being mounted? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Soares is trying to control the action in half guard but Sampson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Soares takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Soares is thwarting Sampson's attempts to control the position.
Soares is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sampson is just riding it out for now. Soares eventually gives up the hold.
Soares is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Soares slips a nice elbow through Sampson's hands, connecting with Sampson's forehead. Sampson tries to get to full guard but Soares has control of the leg. Sampson trying to control from the bottom.
 That's two minutes gone in the round.
Soares is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Soares slows the pace down in half guard. Sampson wants to get back to his feet.
Soares wants to take a breather but Sampson is having none of it. Sampson is looking to escape.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Soares working the head and body with strikes.
Soares is trying a forearm choke� I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sampson wants to get back to full guard. Sampson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Soares has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Soares connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
 That's four minutes gone in the round.
Soares is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Soares!
