The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shetz throws a right hand that Ventura ducks under and follows up with a left that Ventura also avoids with ease.

Shetz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ventura moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

John Shetz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ventura uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shetz.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ventura shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ventura showed some decent athleticism there.
Ventura looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shetz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Shetz has hold of Ventura's hands but Ventura slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Shetz is looking to control Ventura's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shetz avoid being mounted?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Shetz looks to land a combination but Ventura avoids it well.
Shetz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Shetz with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ventura to score with a decent uppercut.
