The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McBride seems to have got his legs back now.

McBride shoots in for a takedown but Richards shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Richards throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Richards swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by McBride.
No luck with that takedown attempt from McBride.

Richards lands with an uppercut that bounces McBride off the ropes and back into rage.

Oooh a lovely combination from Richards sends McBride down but not out. Richards dives into side control looking to finish.
Richards sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but McBride is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

McBride tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Richards wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Richards remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McBride is looking for a sweep.

McBride closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
