Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Pearson (ranked 25400 p4p, 25402 weight class) and Garry Hobbs (ranked 474 p4p, 446 weight class). Garry Hobbs has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jermaine Pearson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jermaine Pearson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Garry Hobbs! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hobbs lands a nice looking body shot.
Pearson dives in and scores a takedown into Hobbs's guard. Hobbs is trying to control the position but Pearson postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pearson looking to pass the guard.
Hobbs looking for a guillotine here but Pearson defends easily.
Pearson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Hobbs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Pearson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hobbs's shoulder. That is not cool.
Pearson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hobbs has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pearson but great work by Hobbs. Hobbs tries to advance to mount but can't.
Hobbs wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pearson, who protects the arm well.

Hobbs is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pearson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Hobbs trying to control the position but Pearson is working away. Pearson is trying to get back to half guard.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hobbs wants to control but Pearson is keeping him busy. Pearson wants to control but Hobbs postures up. Hobbs trying to control the action but Pearson is working from the bottom. Pearson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hobbs wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pearson regains half guard. Pearson trying to control but Hobbs postures up.

Hobbs looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Pearson has Hobbs pressed against the cage, preventing Hobbs from circling away and getting back to striking at range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hobbs has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. A frustrated look appears on Hobbs's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pearson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hobbs can't fight it off and eventually Pearson manages to take the fight to the floor. Hobbs looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hobbs can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pearson controls the pace.

Pearson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Pearson forces his way into half guard. Hobbs wants to improve his position but Pearson is controlling well.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Hobbs is looking to get to half guard. Pearson content just to control the position here. Jermaine Pearson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hobbs is working to get back to half guard.
Hobbs prevents Pearson from taking his back. Pearson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Pearson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Pearson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobbs slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Well, if Pearson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Pearson. Hobbs is looking to control Pearson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hobbs avoid being mounted?

Pearson is figuring out what he wants to do next. Pearson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. Pearson wants to free his trapped foot but Hobbs is holding on for dear life with his legs. Hobbs is trying to get back to full guard. Pearson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hobbs is looking to control Pearson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Hobbs bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Pearson's head. Pearson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hobbs finds it's way round the side to connect with Pearson's head. Pearson staying out of range there.

Hobbs is fighting to maintain full guard but Pearson has managed to sneak the leg through. Pearson wants to pass the guard but Hobbs is defending well. Pearson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Pearson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Pearson wants to control but Hobbs is keeping him busy. Pearson in side control, just content to control the action for now.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Hobbs's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Hobbs struggling a bit here.
