PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Slade McBade (ranked 4004 p4p, 4472 weight class) and Jimmy Lasso (ranked 404 p4p, 427 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Slade McBade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Lasso!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McBade gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lasso blocks an elbow strike from McBade.

McBade pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Lasso gets tackled into the cage by McBade. McBade maintains the clinch.
McBade has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lasso after a bit of a struggle.
McBade has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lasso is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Lasso scores with a hook to the body.
Lasso gets underhooks to prevent McBade's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slade McBade. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lasso gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McBade.

McBade breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McBade lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

McBade's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lasso darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
McBade knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lasso on the ground.

Lasso is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Lasso is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Lasso stalling.
Lasso takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McBade is trying to control but can't.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Lasso ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Lasso decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McBade is trying to escape back to his feet but Lasso uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Lasso is looking to take a break and control but McBade is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lasso tries to stand but McBade is controlling his head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lasso tries to advance to mount but can't.
Lasso postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Lasso working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Lasso tries to score with some ground and pound. McBade controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Lasso gets to mount! McBade was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
McBade on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McBade tries to get out of the position.
Lasso lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lasso wants to control the pace but McBade is squirming around nicely.
McBade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lasso is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. McBade can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Lasso has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McBade's face.

McBade is breathing heavily.
Lasso thowing shots but they're missing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Lasso dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

McBade fails in his attempt to clinch.
McBade shoots in looking for a takedown but Lasso manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McBade's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lasso has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McBade shoots for a takedown but Lasso saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Lasso closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lasso lands in his opponent's guard.

McBade kicks Lasso off and gets to his feet.
Lasso shoots for a double leg takedown but McBade sprawls well. He's pushed Lasso's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

McBade shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lasso is trying to defend but McBade finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lasso is trying to maintain the position but McBade is very close to passing his half guard.
Lasso is holding on to half guard well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lasso moves into full guard.
Jimmy Lasso has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lasso seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

McBade is posturing up here but Lasso has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! McBade tries to roll out but it's too tight and McBade has to tap! Slick submission there by Lasso!
