Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aljosa Medeiros (ranked 1922 p4p, 1896 weight class) and Diego Lacasa (ranked 202 p4p, 196 weight class). Medeiros comes to the cage accompanied by Sidequest - Chime. Lacasa has chosen DIEGO LACASA (OFFICIAL THEME) as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Diego Lacasa enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Aljosa Medeiros! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Lacasa! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lacasa missing with a left hand there. Medeiros was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Medeiros gets a takedown into half guard. Medeiros not landing any meaningful shots this time. Medeiros is stalling here. Lacasa is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Medeiros seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lacasa has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Medeiros is not content to let Lacasa control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lacasa is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Medeiros's shoulder. That is not cool. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lacasa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Medeiros is trying to get back to half guard. Medeiros wants to control but Lacasa postures up. Lacasa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Medeiros keeps working. Lacasa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Medeiros haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Medeiros tries to get back to half guard but can't. Medeiros struggling a bit here. Medeiros is trying to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lacasa taking a breather here.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. A big right from Medeiros misses.
Medeiros drives through with a takedown into guard. Medeiros being controlled here momentarily. Medeiros stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lacasa swivels though and keeps the full guard. Medeiros slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Medeiros trying to control the action but Lacasa is working from the bottom. Medeiros has knee on belly momentarily but Lacasa bucks him off and regains half guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Lacasa is refusing to be controlled, as Medeiros sits in half guard. Medeiros thows a huge punch but Lacasa dodges it nicely.
Medeiros wants to take a breather but Lacasa is having none of it. Lacasa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lacasa keeping control of the position. Medeiros is looking to take a break and control but Lacasa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Aljosa Medeiros dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
A looping hook to the body misses from Medeiros. Lacasa does a little dance to reset his feet. Medeiros closes the distance and clinches up with Lacasa, looking for a takedown. Medeiros pushes Lacasa against the cage but Lacasa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Medeiros gets the takedown into side control. Medeiros wants to control but Lacasa is keeping him busy. Lacasa regains half guard there - taking advantage of Medeiros's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Medeiros throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Medeiros missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Medeiros performing his best blanket impression for a moment. We've been hearing that Medeiros has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Lacasa blocking the ground and pound attempt from Medeiros.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Medeiros throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Medeiros trying to control the action but Lacasa is working from the bottom. Aljosa Medeiros overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Medeiros working Lacasa over with strikes. Medeiros wants to control but Lacasa is keeping him busy. Medeiros sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lacasa defending well though. Lacasa trying to control from the bottom.
Medeiros wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lacasa keeps working. Lacasa trying to control but Medeiros postures up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lacasa tries to roll over but Medeiros keeps him under control. Lacasa is staying active underneath Medeiros, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Medeiros tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lacasa was well out of range. Poor timing from Medeiros. A nice side step and Lacasa releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Medeiros takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Lacasa avoids a lazy jab quite easily. The fighters circling - Lacasa throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Lacasa cracks a nice hook into Medeiros's ribs. Lacasa pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Lacasa misses with a straight left. Lacasa listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Diego Lacasa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Medeiros swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lacasa let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Medeiros tries for a takedown but Lacasa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Lacasa lands with a hook. Medeiros tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Lacasa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Medeiros ducks under a wild hook from Lacasa. A counter left hand to the body from Medeiros misses its target. Medeiros getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Lacasa with a nice cross. Medeiros dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Lacasa misses the shot to the body. Lacasa ducks right into an uppercut from Medeiros. Lacasa thuds his right hand into Medeiros's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Lacasa swings for the body but Medeiros moves out of range.
Lacasa needs to keep his hands up - Medeiros had a free shot at his head there. Lacasa jabs at Medeiros's body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lacasa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Lacasa throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Medeiros was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Diego Lacasa seems to be getting the better of the standup. Lacasa throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Medeiros stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Medeiros ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Lacasa ducks under a wild hook from Medeiros.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Medeiros fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aljosa Medeiros. That's going to take a lot out of him. Medeiros lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Medeiros throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Medeiros throws a lazy right hand but Lacasa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Lacasa misses with a looping right. Lacasa stuns Medeiros with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Jab by Medeiros. Nice shot lands for Lacasa. Medeiros slips under a jab from Lacasa. A combination from Lacasa does no damage. Lacasa swings for the body but Medeiros moves out of range.
Medeiros moves out of range of the strikes. Medeiros throwing a counter right hand but Lacasa manages to avoid it. Medeiros waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lacasa. Lacasa doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Lacasa moves away from the strike by Medeiros. Lacasa sizes up Medeiros with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Diego Lacasa will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Medeiros throws out a loose jab but Lacasa uses good head movement to avoid it.
Medeiros shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Medeiros is trying to control. Lacasa wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Lacasa avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Medeiros. Medeiros is keen to just control but Lacasa is a slippery customer. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Lacasa felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Medeiros winds up and cracks Lacasa with a swinging punch to the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Medeiros working the head and body with strikes. Medeiros seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lacasa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Medeiros sitting and controlling from the half guard. Lacasa trying to hold on to Medeiros's head to control him but Medeiros postures up.

Lacasa is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lacasa keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Lacasa lands the left hand. Medeiros is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lacasa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Medeiros lands a jab to the head.
Lacasa throws a nice looking combination but Medeiros bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Lacasa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Medeiros was well out of range. Poor timing from Lacasa. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Medeiros swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Medeiros shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Lacasa takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

And that's the end of the fight! Aljosa Medeiros showed his dominance in that final round. I think Medeiros has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
