Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ian Laperierre (ranked 4176 p4p, 4546 weight class) and Jun Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laperierre kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Tha Shiznit. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ian Laperierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jun Romero! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Romero with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Laperierre to score with a decent uppercut. Romero looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Laperierre is fending him off so far but Romero persists. Nope, Laperierre circles away and we're back to standing. Laperierre leaves Romero with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Romero shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Laperierre sprawls well. Laperierre wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Romero gets slowly back to his feet. Laperierre has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Ian Laperierre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jun Romero. Romero shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Laperierre defends it nicely. Romero shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Laperierre as he jumps to the side.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laperierre sitting in guard, not really doing much. Romero wants to sweep here but Laperierre controlling him for the moment.  That's one minute gone in the round. Laperierre is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Romero tries to land a sweep but no joy. Laperierre sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Romero's guard. Laperierre slows the pace down in half guard. Laperierre's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Romero wants to get back to full guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Laperierre wants to pass the guard but Romero is defending well. Laperierre is figuring out what he wants to do next. Romero is trying to get back to full guard. Laperierre works his foot free and advances to mount. Laperierre takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Romero is trying to escape the mount.
Romero wants to control but Laperierre is having none of it. We've been informed that Romero has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Laperierre controlling from the full mount. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Romero is looking to get to half guard. Laperierre looking to control and managing it successfully. Laperierre has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Laperierre controlling from the full mount. Romero wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! I really don't envy Romero right now.

Ian Laperierre dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Romero walks into a left hand. No luck with that takedown attempt from Romero. Laperierre wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Laperierre cracks Romero with a good jab. Laperierre lands an overhand right. Laperierre sizes up Romero with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Laperierre keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Romero shoots for a double leg takedown but Laperierre sprawls well. He's pushed Romero's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A left and a right from Laperierre both land. Nice combination. Romero tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Laperierre defends well and Romero ends up having to push Laperierre into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Ian Laperierre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jun Romero. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Laperierre lands a jab to the nose. Laperierre moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Laperierre lands a head kick. Romero smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Laperierre lands a nice shot that snaps Romero's head back.

Romero closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Laperierre's guard. Laperierre is pulling down on Romero's head. It's preventing any offense from Romero, at least for the moment. Romero trying to control but Laperierre is working from the bottom. Laperierre is adopting a defensive guard. Romero wants to control from the top but Laperierre keeps moving. Romero postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Laperierre has control of Romero's left arm, preventing Romero from doing any damage. Laperierre looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Romero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Romero's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Laperierre connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Romero scrambles back to his feet.
Laperierre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Romero sprawls well initially but Laperierre persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Romero has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Laperierre is working away from the top position though. Laperierre looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Romero tries to get to full guard but Laperierre has control of the leg.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Romero wants to control but Laperierre is keeping busy.
Laperierre trying to control the pace. This is a sustained period of stalling by Laperierre. Laperierre continues to hold on tight. Romero wants to get back to full guard. Laperierre performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Romero is looking for a sweep. Laperierre is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Laperierre seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Laperierre is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Romero! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Romero can do anything to dispel that myth. Romero wants to control but Laperierre is having none of it. Laperierre controlling from mount. Romero is trying to escape the mount but Laperierre keeps good control and instead manages to take Romero's back.

Laperierre has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Romero's body.
You can see the frustration on Romero's face� He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Ian Laperierre dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Romero takes one to the chin there. Romero tries to move into range but Laperierre moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Romero takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Laperierre moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
 It looks like Jun Romero has been cut. Ian Laperierre is winning the standup battle so far.
Laperierre shoots in and bounces Romero off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Laperierre looking to pass the guard. Ian Laperierre overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Laperierre engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Laperierre tries to free his leg and advance position but Romero is retaining full guard. Laperierre controlling from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Laperierre won't allow Romero to sweep him here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Laperierre forces his way into half guard. Romero won't allow Laperierre to pass to mount. Laperierre with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Romero is looking to improve his position.
Laperierre keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Laperierre is stinking the place up with his stalling.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Laperierre lands with a cross. Romero shoots for a takedown but Laperierre saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Laperierre connects with a jab.
