Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Mason (ranked 2353 p4p, 24836 weight class) and Rafael Gracie (ranked 232 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Kenny Mason has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kenny Mason seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 44 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie closes the distance looking to clinch

and Mason counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gracie has hold of Mason's hands but Mason slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie tries to roll over but Mason keeps him under control.
Mason seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gracie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gracie is not content to let Mason control the position.

We've been hearing that Mason has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gracie seems keen to control Mason's posture.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mason is aware though and is defending well.
Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mason not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mason postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mason gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mason slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Check out the look on Mason's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Mason content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Mason wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.
Mason lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie gets back to half guard.

Gracie throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mason tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gracie is in Mason's guard.
Mason pulls Gracie in close to prevent any damage.
Gracie looking to sit in guard and control but Mason gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gracie controls Mason momentarily but Mason frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mason avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mason is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around?
Mason tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.

Gracie has his foot on Mason's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mason works his way back into a safe position though.

Mason got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mason has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.

Mason stands up over Gracie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mason is pushing down on Gracie's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gracie is fighting to maintain full guard but Mason has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mason prevents Gracie from improving his position.
Mason wants to pass the guard but Gracie is defending well.
Kenny Mason overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mason working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Gracie has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Mason is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gracie is just riding it out for now. Mason eventually gives up the hold.

Gracie is staying active underneath Mason, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mason pulls his head out easily.
Mason slips a nice elbow through Gracie's hands, connecting with Gracie's forehead.
Mason looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mason is working hard here to advance position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Mason stuffs the takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.

Mason gets caught flat footed, as Gracie shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mason is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gracie has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Mason to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Gracie is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Mason pulls down on the head and he's put Gracie to sleep! This one is all over!
