Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Castillo (ranked 1049 p4p, 988 weight class) and Gotrek Gurnisson (ranked 99 p4p, 89 weight class). Castillo comes to the cage accompanied by Sepultura - Attitude. Gurnisson has chosen Pride Is The Devil - J Cole as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Castillo! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Gotrek Gurnisson! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gurnisson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Castillo counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Castillo misses with a kick to the body and Gurnisson counters with a stiff right hand. Castillo swinging wildly here.
As Castillo backs off Gurnisson throws a huge counter combo but Castillo manages to avoid it all. Gurnisson connects with the punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Castillo lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Castillo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Gurnisson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Castillo throws a shot from downtown. Gurnisson moves away and avoids it. Gurnisson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Castillo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Richard Castillo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Castillo lands a front kick. Castillo scores with a spinning back kick! Gurnisson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Castillo tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Gurnisson is able to avoid easily. A telegraphed right hand from Castillo misses the target. Castillo misses with a kick to the body
so Gurnisson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gurnisson throws an elbow that misses. Castillo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gurnisson's guard. Nice move by Castillo!

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Gurnisson trying to keep a closed guard but Castillo is proving a slippery customer.
Castillo trying to control the position from guard on top but Gurnisson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Castillo is really struggling to control Gurnisson but he's trying to hold on to the position. Castillo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Gurnisson controlling the position. Castillo trying to control but Gurnisson is working from the bottom. Castillo controls from within his opponent's guard. Gurnisson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Castillo landing with the ground and pound. Gurnisson has control of Castillo's left arm, preventing Castillo from doing any damage.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gurnisson wants to improve his position but instead Castillo has moved into half guard.
Gurnisson is refusing to be controlled, as Castillo sits in half guard. Castillo winds up and cracks Gurnisson with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Richard Castillo will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Castillo didn't see that one coming. Gurnisson catches Castillo with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Castillo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Nice body punch from Gurnisson. Richard Castillo is winning the standup battle so far. Castillo takes a shot right to the bread basket. Castillo throws a wild body kick that Gurnisson sees coming a mile off. Castillo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gurnisson lands the left hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Castillo throws a leg kick but Gurnisson sees it coming and checks it nicely. Gurnisson is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Gurnisson misses with a right hand and Castillo counters with a body kick that stops Gurnisson in his tracks momentarily. Castillo ducks under a wild hook from Gurnisson. Gurnisson misses with a hook. A quick step to the side and Castillo tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. A jab from Castillo misses.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Castillo cracks Gurnisson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Gurnisson misses with a hook
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Castillo throws out a loose jab but Gurnisson uses good head movement to avoid it. Gurnisson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gurnisson takes one to the chin there. Nice uppercut there from Castillo. Castillo works the jab nicely. Castillo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Castillo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Gurnisson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Castillo takes a swing at Gurnisson's ribcage but misses. Gurnisson with the counter takedown but Castillo avoids it easily. Gurnisson misses with a right hand and Castillo counters with a good, hard body kick but Gurnisson shrugs it off. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Castillo scores with a punch to the head. Castillo is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Castillo misses with a hook. Castillo connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Castillo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gurnisson.

Gurnisson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Castillo moves away. Gurnisson has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Castillo staying out of range there. It looked like Castillo wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Gurnisson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Castillo throws the kick towards the body but Gurnisson avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Castillo takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Castillo counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gurnisson thinking. Castillo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Gurnisson misses with a hook. Castillo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gurnisson. Castillo uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Castillo lands with a nice body punch. An inside leg kick lands from Castillo.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Gurnisson misses with an uppercut. Castillo saw that one coming. Castillo throws a leg kick but Gurnisson sees it coming and moves out of range. Gurnisson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Castillo throws out a leg kick but Gurnisson moves out of range and Castillo only half commits. Castillo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Castillo throws a poor cross that misses
and Gurnisson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Castillo thinking. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gurnisson fails with the takedown and Castillo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Castillo jabs Gurnisson right on the nose. Gurnisson blinks but takes it well. Gurnisson moves out of range of the strikes. Castillo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Castillo moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Castillo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gurnisson. Gurnisson now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Gurnisson misses with an uppercut. Castillo saw that one coming. Gurnisson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Castillo lands with a straight right. Gurnisson didn't see that one coming.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Gurnisson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A little jabbing left from Gurnisson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Gurnisson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Castillo throws a body shot but no joy. Gurnisson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Gurnisson throws a body punch but Castillo moves out of range. Gurnisson's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Gurnisson lands a nice hook to Castillo's body. Castillo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Castillo fakes the leg kick and cracks Gurnisson in the body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Castillo lands a jab to Gurnisson's midsection. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gurnisson is fighting to break Castillo's control of his arms but Castillo is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Gurnisson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Gurnisson postures up.

 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gurnisson throws out a loose jab but Castillo uses good head movement to avoid it. Gurnisson throws an overhand right that lands on Castillo's shoulder, as Castillo tries to avoid the shot. Castillo misses with a wild combination.

Gurnisson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A punch lands to the side of Castillo 's head but he takes it in his stride. Castillo scores with a crisp jab that stopped Gurnisson in his tracks. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Castillo - that will leave a mark!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Castillo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gurnisson. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gurnisson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Castillo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Gurnisson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Castillo's guard.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Richard Castillo. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Castillo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
