The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garfunkel moves to clinch but Nurmagomedov breaks away
and Nurmagomedov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Garfunkel won't be happy with that.
Nurmagomedov is trying to get an arm triangle but Garfunkel is defending well.
A lull in the action here.
Garfunkel is trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Garfunkel looking for a sweep but Nurmagomedov has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Nurmagomedov thowing shots but they're missing.
Nurmagomedov won't let Garfunkel get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Garfunkel is wriggling around trying to escape.
Garfunkel slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Nurmagomedov in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Garfunkel tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Nurmagomedov!

Magomed Nurmagomedov was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
