The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Banner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Borgia on his heels. He'll look to pass Borgia's guard now, I'm sure.  That's seven minutes gone in the round. It looks like Borgia might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Banner is looking to sweep but instead, Borgia has passed into half guard.

Borgia is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Banner is looking to improve his position but Borgia isn't that keen on the idea.

 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Borgia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Banner is trying to escape the mount.
Banner is controlling an arm, preventing Borgia from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Banner is staying active underneath Borgia, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Banner keeping hold of Borgia's head, controlling as best he can. Borgia is figuring out what he wants to do next. Banner is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at HELLCADEMY, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Borgia wants to free his trapped foot but Banner is holding on for dear life with his legs.

 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Banner holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Banner tries to get to full guard but Borgia has control of the leg. Banner won't allow Borgia to pass to mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Borgia is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Borgia is looking to stall here but Banner recovers full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Borgia wins on points by 5 to 2. Cesare Borgia decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. Roddy Banner was interviewed post fight and said 'Watch your back! I am coming for you..'. |
