Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vybz Kartel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, General Ice! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kartel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Ice gets a takedown into half guard. Ice decides to stand and escape the position. Kartel lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Ice shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kartel is trying to stand up here but Ice is controlling him well. Ice postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kartel to stand up. Kartel throws a sloppy head kick and Ice moves out of range easily. Kartel throws a head kick that Ice semi-blocks.
Kartel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ice. Ice changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kartel looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ice stands up and we're back to a striking position. Ice bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Kartel is breathing heavily. Ice decides to stand back up. Kartel doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ice counters with a shoot takedown. Kartel fights it but they end up in guard. Ice gets to his feet. Kartel looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Kartel misses with a takedown attempt and Ice counters with a nice double leg into half guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vybz Kartel. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ice escapes and gets back to his feet. Ice blocks a head kick by Kartel.
Ice looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Ice must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ice stands and steps away. Kartel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Ice ducks right into an uppercut from Kartel.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ice closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kartel to the mat! Kartel manages to get full guard. Ice gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Ice scores with a takedown into Kartel's guard. Ice stands up from Kartel's guard - Ice perhaps looking for a knockout. Kartel fails with the takedown and Ice counters with a shoot takedown. Kartel fights it but they end up in guard. Kartel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ice is one step ahead there. Kartel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ice gets to his feet - Kartel follows without any prompting.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Kartel as Ice shoots in. Ice misses with a series of wild punches.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kartel. Kartel tries a head kick but it misses.
Kartel displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Kartel throws a head kick that Ice semi-blocks.
Kartel gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kartel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ice can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Kartel is working an open guard so Ice takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kartel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ice counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kartel! Kartel tries to get back to half guard but can't. Ice gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Kartel tries to land a leg kick but Ice saw it coming and moves away.
Ice looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kartel actively working from the bottom here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kartel regains full guard. Nicely done. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
General Ice dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Kartel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ice feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Ice stopping the sweep attempt from Kartel. Ice stands and steps away. Kartel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Ice scores with a takedown into Kartel's guard. Kartel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Ice is trying to stand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kartel wants to stand up but Ice has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Kartel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ice is just riding it out for now. Kartel eventually gives up the hold. Ice has one foot on Kartel's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Ice has been the more effective fighter overall so far. A head kick misses from Kartel. Kartel gets caught flat footed, as Ice shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Kartel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kartel is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
General Ice has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ice has one foot on Kartel's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Kartel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ice. Kartel gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Kartel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ice is controlling him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ice stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Kartel throws a hook to the side of Ice's head but Ice sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ice gets the takedown into side control. Kartel is looking to regain half guard here but Ice keeps moving and retains side control. Ice stands up. Ice avoids the head kick by Kartel.
Ice drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ice has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ice shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Ice tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Kartel works his way to full guard. Good work. Ice gets to his feet - Kartel follows without any prompting. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kartel misses with a two punch combination.
Kartel throws a right and a left that Ice avoids nicely. Vybz Kartel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kartel throws a head kick that half lands.

General Ice showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Kartel is desperately trying to improve his position but Ice has a good base and remains in mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ice takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Kartel is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Ice stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kartel swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ice counters with a takedown into side control. Ice decides to stand back up. Ice feints and as Kartel raises his hands in defense, Ice changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ice avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ice stands up and waves to Kartel to follow him. Danga de danga de dang - Kartel scores with a four punch combination! Ice shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Ice decides to return to a standing position. Vybz Kartel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ice drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. General Ice is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kartel working for a triangle but Ice defends it easily.
Ice gets to his feet - Kartel follows without any prompting. Ice bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Ice wants to stand but Kartel has his arm trapped. Kartel is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ice has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ice decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kartel to his feet. Ice checks a low kick from Kartel. Ice scores with a takedown into Kartel's guard. Kartel wants to sweep but no luck. Kartel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ice gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ice gets to his feet. Kartel looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
And that's the end of the fight! General Ice comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Ice winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
