The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Da Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Ngannou manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Da Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Da Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ngannou pinned against the cage. Ngannou gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ngannou is looking to take a break and control but Da Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee asks Ngannou politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ngannou prefers to stall for the moment though.

Da Silva is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ngannou off and has taken his back!

Da Silva is trying to stick to Ngannou's back but Ngannou is turning into Da Silva. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Da Silva's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ngannou.

Da Silva has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Ngannou is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ngannou stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Da Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
