This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 13 losses; Radu Dracul! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 89 wins and 65 losses; Vasiliy Kulik! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Kulik is trying to drag Dracul to the mat but Dracul just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Dracul pulls guard. Kulik tries to free his leg and advance position but Dracul is retaining full guard.

Score +3 for taking back: Dracul (0) vs (13) Kulik Kulik is not going to allow Dracul to sit and survive in this position. Dracul tries to escape the position.
Kulik has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Dracul's body.
Kulik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Dracul is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at ZuccoTraining Ground, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Dracul is looking to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dracul is looking to get back to full guard here but Kulik has managed to pass to side control instead. Score +3 for passing guard: Dracul (0) vs (16) Kulik
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Dracul is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Dracul gets back to half guard. Kulik perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Dracul is looking to improve his position.

 That's five minutes gone in the round. Kulik tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dracul knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Dracul controlling the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kulik stalling away here and it's allowed Dracul to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Kulik stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dracul swivels though and keeps the full guard.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Dracul working a defensive guard but Kulik passes into half guard.
Kulik looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Dracul trying to hold on to Kulik's head to control him but Kulik postures up.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kulik in particular looking to stall. Kulik has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at KFA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Dracul is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Kulik jumps into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Dracul (0) vs (19) Kulik Kulik wants to control but Dracul is keeping him busy. Dracul looks to move to half guard but instead Kulik has passed into mount! Damn! Score +2 for reaching mount: Dracul (0) vs (21) Kulik Kulik controlling from mount.  That's eight minutes gone in the round. Kulik looking to control and managing it successfully. Dracul reaches up to try and control the position but Kulik seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Dracul rolls and tries to escape and now Kulik has his back!
Score +3 for taking back: Dracul (0) vs (24) Kulik Kulik is riding his opponent, not letting Dracul buck him off. Let's hope that Kulik has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. I really don't envy Dracul right now.

 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Kulik wants to control but Dracul is keeping busy. Dracul trying to control the hands but Kulik won't let him. You can see the frustration on Dracul's face� He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Dracul wants to control his opponent's hands but Kulik gets his hands free. Kulik has the hooks in. Dracul is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Kulik controlling the position well here. Dracul rolled but Kulik kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. I really don't envy Dracul right now.

Kulik swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dracul trying to move into half guard but instead Kulik has managed to sweep! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kulik keeps control of the position easily here as Dracul tries to buck him off.
And that's the end of the fight! Kulik wins on points by 34 to 2. An out of breath Vasiliy Kulik thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. |
