Fish shoots in and bounces Kulik off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kulik is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Kulik can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fish controls the pace. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Kulik looking for a sweep. Not yet Kulik, not yet. Fish tries to free his leg and advance position but Kulik is retaining full guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Fish showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Fish stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kulik swivels though and keeps the full guard. Fish trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Kulik manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!  That's four minutes gone in the round. Kulik slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Kulik passes Fish's left leg - he's now in half guard. Kulik frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Kulik (5) vs (2) Fish Fish is in all sorts of trouble here.

Kulik is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Fish knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Fish for a finish. Fish tries to escape but Kulik has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kulik's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Kulik controlling the position well here. Fish rolled but Kulik kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Kulik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kulik tries to keep control of the position but Fish is staying busy.

 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Kulik wants to control the position but Fish frees himself and scrambles - Kulik manages to regain control in side control.

 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Kulik is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Fish not doing much here.
It looks like Fish might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Fish wants to pass to mount but Kulik is defending the position. Kulik regains full guard. Nicely done. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Fish looking to pass the guard. Fish wants to control from the top but Kulik keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! Kulik takes the fight on points by 8 to 4. Vasiliy Kulik seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website. The defeated Steve Fish had this to say: 'I aint cut out for this'. |
