Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Frank Mir has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Frank Mir seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Cannon! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir missing with a left hand there. Cannon was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Mir throws a hook but Cannon avoids it easily. Cannon fails with the takedown. Cannon has a takedown stuffed. Mir tries for a takedown but Cannon circles away easily and Cannon counters with a nice double leg into guard. Cannon stays in close to Mir's body and controls the position. Mir could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Cannon wants to stand but Mir has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Mir throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Mir is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Cannon showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir controls Cannon momentarily but Cannon frees himself. Cannon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mir is looking to stand up but Cannon isn't so interested in that idea.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mir pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Mir looks to clinch and Cannon counters with a takedown into side control. Mir struggling a bit here. Mir tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Mir's face as Cannon controls the position. Cannon working the ground and pound from side control. Mir is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Mir is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Cannon trying to control the action but Mir is working from the bottom. Mir takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir is positioning himself to get back to half guard. You can see the frustration on Mir's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mir wants to get back to his feet but Cannon is dominant here and he's now got Mir's back! Mir is trying to stand back up. Mir is breathing heavily. Cannon looking to break Mir's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Mir remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Cannon will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mir trying to control the action but Cannon just sinks the hooks in. Mir breaks Cannon's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Mir closes the distance but Cannon moves to the side and Cannon counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mir! Mir manages to regain half guard. Good work. Cannon wants to control but Mir is keeping him busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Cannon dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Cannon gets a clinch. Cannon is trying to trip Mir. He has hold of a leg but Mir is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cannon persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Mir is trying to keep Cannon in close.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mir is on top in guard.

Mir wants to control from the top but Cannon keeps moving. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cannon can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir looking to pass the guard. Cannon has control of Mir's left arm, preventing Mir from doing any damage. Cannon is breathing heavily. Mir is looking to work some ground and pound but Cannon has wrist control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cannon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mir is aware though and is defending well. Mir wants to get up but he can't break Cannon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A solid leg kick lands there for Mir.
Mir tries for a takedown but Cannon circles away easily and Cannon counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mir!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir wants to control but Cannon is having none of it. Cannon wants to control the pace but Mir is squirming around nicely. Mir reaches up and holds on to Cannon to control the position. Mir really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir trying desperately to get to his feet.
Cannon trying to control but Mir is having none of it. Mir is desperately trying to improve his position but Cannon has a good base and remains in mount. Cannon avoids the attempt from Mir to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mir working to try and regain half guard.
Mir wants to hold on but Cannon pushes him away. Cannon lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Cannon working away from the top, dropping strikes. Cannon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Mir wants to hold on but Cannon pushes him away. Cannon controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Cannon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Mir doesn't manage to clinch there - Cannon circles away.
Mir has a takedown stuffed. Mir throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Frank Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mir shoots in but Cannon avoids the takedown attempt easily. Mir tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cannon just misses with a punch to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. A combination from Cannon does no damage. Mir swats away the attempt to clinch by Cannon. Cannon has closed the distance and engaged Mir in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cannon digs a right hand into Mir's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Mir's gas tank. Cannon has picked Mir up - he's going for a ride! Cannon dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Mir slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Mir tries to land a sweep but no joy. David Cannon has got the better of the ground game so far. Mir trying to keep a closed guard but Cannon is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cannon preventing the sweep. Mir seems keen to control Cannon's posture. Mir has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Cannon stops Mir from standing up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Cannon has managed to clinch.
Mir blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir jumps guard and drags Cannon to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Cannon advances position into side control! Mir is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Mir is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cannon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cannon's back! Mir lands shots from the back. Mir lands a shot to the head. Cannon looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mir not allowing Cannon to control his hands. Mir gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Mir is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Mir gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Mir gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Mir apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Mir tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Cannon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Mir striking off his back. Mir is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Frank Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! David Cannon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Cannon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! David Cannon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Cannon winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
