This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 5 losses; Jake Askren! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 27 wins and 14 losses; Ryan Gordon! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Gordon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Askren (0) vs (4) Gordon Gordon is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Askren will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. It looks like Gordon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Let's hope that Gordon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Gordon is continuing to stall. Askren might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Askren tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gordon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Askren seems a little lost for a moment, as Gordon dominates the positioning. Gordon trying to control the position but Askren is working away. A lull in the action here as Gordon stalls from top position.
