PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tawinda Okalou (ranked 3991 p4p, 25460 weight class) and Urvin Mortonfar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urvin Mortonfar will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tawinda Okalou!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Urvin Mortonfar!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okalou tests Mortonfar's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Okalou misses with a straight right.
Okalou lands a jab to the nose.
Okalou throws a shot from downtown. Mortonfar moves away and avoids it.
A punch lands to the side of Mortonfar 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Okalou connects with a crisp jab.
Okalou throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Mortonfar shoots in and bounces Okalou off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mortonfar distracts Okalou with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Mortonfar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Okalou utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mortonfar tries to stand but Okalou is controlling from the bottom.

The crowd cheers as Okalou lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mortonfar doesn't seem phased though.

and Mortonfar counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Mortonfar wants to work for an arm triangle but Okalou is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mortonfar is working for a kimura but Okalou is defending it quite comfortably.
Okalou might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mortonfar is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Mortonfar stands up and beckons Okalou to join him on the feet.
Okalou throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mortonfar sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mortonfar staying out of range there.
Mortonfar let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Mortonfar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mortonfar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Okalou knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mortonfar on the ground.

Mortonfar decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Urvin Mortonfar dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Okalou jabs Mortonfar right on the nose. Mortonfar blinks but takes it well.
The fighters circling - Okalou throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Okalou sets himself, and Mortonfar steps forward looking for the clinch! Okalou avoids it this time.

Mortonfar pushes Okalou up against the cage in a clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Okalou.
Mortonfar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mortonfar decides to pull guard.
Mortonfar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Okalou's guard.

Urvin Mortonfar has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mortonfar stands up over Okalou, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mortonfar with a flurry of punches that miss.
Okalou preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mortonfar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Okalou is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Okalou looks to land a left hand but Mortonfar moved out of range nicely.
Okalou connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Okalou throws out a powerful jab.
Mortonfar takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Mortonfar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Okalou.
Okalou throws a shot from downtown. Mortonfar moves away and avoids it.

Mortonfar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mortonfar throws an elbow but Okalou slips to the side and avoids it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mortonfar gets to mount! Okalou was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Okalou is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Mortonfar locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Okalou is forced to tap!
