Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takanori Gomi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Oliver Baumgartner!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Gomi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Baumgartner tries to clinch there but Gomi circles away.
A jab from Gomi finds it's way through Baumgartner's defenses.
Gomi seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Baumgartner closes the distance but Gomi moves to the side
and Gomi counters with a straight right hand.
Baumgartner closes the distance looking to clinch
and Gomi counters with a big 3 punch combo that drops Baumgartner on his ass! Baumgartner wobbles back to his feet half way through the count and though looking a bit dazed, the referee is going to allow the fight to continue!
Baumgartner is rocked!
Baumgartner glances at the clock... BAM! Gomi nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Baumgartner crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Baumgartner is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Takanori Gomi!
