PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Draper (ranked 3920 p4p, 4144 weight class) and David Bashier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Draper kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sublime - Date Rape. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Draper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Bashier! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Draper missing with a left hand there. Bashier was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. It seemed like Bashier was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. A jab from Draper misses. Bashier displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Draper throws out the jab. Bashier looks like he wants to counter punch here. Draper just misses with a punch to the body.
Bashier takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Draper swings for the body but Bashier moves out of range.
Draper throws a jab but it's blocked by Bashier. A combination from Draper does no damage.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Draper lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bashier circles away quickly and effectively. Bashier defending well as Draper loads up on a big left hand. Draper scores with a jab to the body. Draper swinging wildly here.
Bashier swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Draper throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Draper wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Draper misses with a hook. Bashier ducked under it nicely. Bashier now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Bashier walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Draper works Bashier's body with a nice hook. Bashier looks winded! Draper misses with a looping left. A little jabbing left from Bashier on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Draper looks to land a left hand but Bashier moved out of range nicely.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Draper scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bashier doesn't seem bothered though.
Draper has Bashier up against the cage in a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Draper. Draper lands a hook to the side of the head. Draper presses Bashier against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Draper.
Draper drops Bashier onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Bashier is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
 Bashier is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Draper creates a bit of distance and unloads a huge uppercut that knocks Bashier out cold! The ref dives in to break up the two fighters! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jake Draper! During a confident post fight interview, Jake Draper thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
