This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 16 wins and 14 losses; Jin Yi! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 17 losses; Jack Phillips! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?
Phillips feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Yi (0) vs (2) Phillips Yi is controlling Phillips's posture. Yi seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Yi being controlled here, momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phillips trying to control the position from guard on top but Yi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Yi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Phillips seems keen to control Yi's posture.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Yi won't allow Phillips to sweep him here. Yi wants to pass the guard but Phillips is keeping the position. Yi sitting in guard here, content to control. Yi looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Phillips wants to control the position but Yi says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Phillips manages to get to full guard.
Yi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Phillips swivels though and keeps the full guard. Yi pushes down on Phillips's leg and manages to get into half guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Phillips preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Still in half guard, Yi seems content to control. Phillips keeps control of the position for the meantime. Phillips is trying to control but can't.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Yi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Yi is looking to advance position but Phillips won't allow it. Phillips has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yi is working away from the top position though. Still in half guard, Yi seems content to control. Yi trying to pass the guard but Phillips defending well.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Yi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Yi prevents Phillips from improving his position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yi in particular looking to stall.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Yi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Phillips for as long as he can get away with. Yi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Phillips!  That's eight minutes gone in the round. Phillips tries to control the position but Yi now has his back.

 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Phillips wants to control his opponent's hands but Yi gets his hands free. Phillips is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Yi biding his time, controlling Phillips. Phillips tries to roll but Yi sticks to his back.
Phillips is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Yi off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. What can Phillips do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Yi trying to control the position here. Phillips wants to pass the guard but Yi is keeping the position.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Yi looking for a sweep. Not yet Yi, not yet. Phillips looking to sit in guard and control but Yi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Yi (10) vs (4) Phillips Yi is fighting to break Phillips's control of his arms but Phillips is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Phillips is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Yi passes Phillips's left leg - he's now in half guard. Yi is taking a breather. Phillips says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Yi prevents Phillips from improving his position.
