Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sirus Hughes (ranked 2251 p4p, 3177 weight class) and Rafael Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes into the arena with Devil "Shinedown" blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 33 - 17 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sirus Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 45 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Gracie! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Vladimir Khabensky.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to sprawl but Hughes drives through with a takedown into half guard. Hughes controlling the action here. Gracie wants to improve his position but Hughes is controlling well.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back. Hughes trying to mount his opponent but Gracie defends it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hughes wants to advance to full mount but Gracie doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Hughes controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hughes defends it easily. Gracie being controlled here, momentarily.
Hughes stands up and waves to Gracie to follow him.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie feints and as Hughes raises his hands in defense, Gracie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Gracie wants to control from the top but Hughes keeps moving.
Hughes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.

Hughes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hughes stands up out of the half guard. Gracie fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Hughes is looking for a kimura but Gracie is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hughes to get the leverage.
Hughes seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Gracie has recovered full guard. Hughes pushing down on Gracie's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hughes pulls his head out easily. Gracie is staying active underneath Hughes, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gracie trying to hold on to Hughes's head to control him but Hughes postures up.

Hughes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gracie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hughes tries for a kimura but Gracie is defending well. Hughes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around? Gracie tries to bench press Hughes off him but Hughes keeps the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hughes controls the position from side control. Gracie is looking for a sweep.

Hughes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gracie has escaped the position, nice work there. Hughes trying to control the position but Gracie is working away.
Hughes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hughes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hughes happy to just control the position for now.
Hughes decides to stand back up.

Hughes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gracie is just riding it out for now. Hughes eventually gives up the hold.
Hughes is trying a forearm choke� I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gracie has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Gracie wants to control the action here but instead Hughes manages to pass to full mount!
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gracie to take his back!

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes controlling from the back. Gracie trying to control the hands but Hughes breaks the grip. Hughes controls the action.
Hughes is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Gracie knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Gracie for a finish. Hughes controlling well, preventing Gracie from escaping the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Hughes is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gracie has managed to escape the submission attempt.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gracie is squirming around, avoiding Hughes's attempts to control the action. Hughes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Hughes tries to control but Gracie wriggling away. Hughes looking to control and managing it successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hughes working for a submission but Gracie is keeping him at bay. Sirus Hughes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes prevents Gracie from getting the reversal. Hughes manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gracie to take his back!
Hughes has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Gracie! Can he survive? No! He's out! Hughes gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
