Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Van Hook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Pulanski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Van Hook might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Cure's Close To Me. Pulanski is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Sonic Empire. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyle Van Hook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yuri Pulanski! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pulanski slips a straight right by Van Hook. A punch combination from Van Hook misses. Pulanski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Van Hook looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Van Hook is looking to regain half guard here but Pulanski keeps moving and retains side control. Van Hook is trying to control Pulanski's posture but Pulanski avoids it. Pulanski in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Pulanski misses with the ground and pound. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Van Hook is looking to regain half guard here but Pulanski keeps moving and retains side control. Pulanski scoring with punches and elbows. Pulanski working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Van Hook is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Van Hook tries to bench press Pulanski off him but Pulanski keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Hook is not content to let Pulanski control the position. An elbow from Pulanski crashes against the mat.
Van Hook sneaks back into half guard. Pulanski is nestled in close to Van Hook, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Van Hook tries to get to full guard but Pulanski has control of the leg. Van Hook is pressing down on Pulanski's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Van Hook not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pulanski trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Hook is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pulanski cracks Van Hook with a solid left hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pulanski stopping the sweep attempt from Van Hook. Van Hook is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Van Hook looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Pulanski missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pulanski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Van Hook. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Van Hook looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pulanski looks to score with a jab to the body but Van Hook is just out of range. Van Hook tries to bum rush Pulanski with a series of wild strikes but Pulanski uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kyle Van Hook is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Van Hook misses the jab. Van Hook connects with a crisp jab. Van Hook fails to land with a series of punches.
Van Hook avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pulanski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Van Hook but Van Hook pushes him off and we're back to square one. Van Hook cracks Pulanski with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Pulanski uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Van Hook. Van Hook throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Pulanski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Van Hook thows a body kick. Pulanski tries to catch it but that hurt him. Pulanski looks gassed! Pulanski tries to score a power double leg takedown but Van Hook sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pulanski somewhat. Kyle Van Hook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Pulanski. Van Hook throws a big shot that misses. Van Hook bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Pulanski's head. Van Hook misses with a series of wild punches.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Van Hook. Pulanski tries to move into range but Van Hook moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pulanski takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Pulanski is rocked!
It looks like Yuri Pulanski has been cut. Van Hook throws a monster overhand right that drops Pulanski! Van Hook follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kyle Van Hook!
