HYPE Midget Championship PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Gabe Utsecks! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Luca Lawson! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Utsecks fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Lawson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Utsecks is looking to clinch. Lawson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Utsecks's waist but Utsecks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lawson off to one side. Lawson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Gabe Utsecks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luca Lawson. Lawson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lawson wants it to stay on the feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Utsecks looks like he's thinking about clinching though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Utsecks clinches. Lawson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Utsecks to keep the fight standing.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Lawson stops a takedown attempt from Utsecks.
Utsecks jumps guard.
Utsecks is looking to cinch up a triangle. Lawson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Utsecks's body to avoid the submission. Utsecks has instead reached around Lawson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Utsecks arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
